So I just read Videoman's whole hash making thing in FAQ.
It seems that all he does is blend leaves with the iso and let the iso dry out. I was under the impression that the purpose of making hash was to extract the low-concentrated thc from the leaves and concentrate it into hash. By simply blending the leaves and letting the alcohol dry, how are you left with anything more than simply a pile of dried, blended leaves. Thanks |

Apparently THC is water soluble, while chorophyl and the rest of the vegetation and chems are not. The THC is dissolved in the alchohol and passes through your strainer or filter. The rest of the plant is caught in the filter. You let the alcohol evaporate and that leaves you with the THC in the form of a paste. Of course, there is still other foreign matter that doesn't get filtered out but most of the junk is already removed.

Very interesting point. I'm really not qualified to answer the question as I've never done it myself. I do know the water/alcohol method to make hash has been around for quite a while, though, so I know that works. Not sure on the water cure.

Firstly, THC isn't water soluble, neither is it soluble in the solvent. The solvent, liquid at room temperature but with a high boiling point such as Isopropyll Alchohol a petroleum distillate actually disolves the plant material, plant waxes and chlorophyll and when the solvent is heated it volitises into the air driving off the solvent and leaving the THC as chemcially extracted hash. It's in actually a kind of gummy substance. |

thc is not water soluble that's why it stays on the bud during water curing.
it is broken down by solvents. thats how it is "rinsed off" thru a filter. |

when making hash or honey oil i try to think of the thc as "dirt". i am simply washing the "dirt" off and saving it.

Thc is not water soluble, you can however wash it off with iso, the trick is not to soak it too long, this is a common mistake. If you soak it too long, you actually get a lower quality because you wash off too many of the nastys.
