Yes. NO PLANT uses O2, at ALL. O2 is a waste product of anything that uses photosynthesis. CO2 to the roots helps aerate them, which is necessary for healthy roots in a hydroponics system. You can do this in soil as well, it'll be of great help by keeping the soil aerated and well-drained.

i wasn't gonna say anything but since you did i will too........were did you get the information. roots totally need o2, aerateing the solution is adding o2, how many hydro reses can you find with a air pump to oxygenate the water on this site, prolly just about evryone why use h2o2, why use air pumps, to put o2 in the solution cause the roots need it. show me the information that says they need co2. where did you learn this.

I dont think anyone is saying that o2 isnt used all im saying is that adding CO2 to your res helps. thats it. I dont think it is a proven fact yet but i have seen it with my own eyes and there is proof right here Co2/Temp experiment - Cannabis Culture Forums

Using this bucket system just makes its easier and cleaner to have in the room with your res. I have seen personally what happened when i added co2 to my res. But this was in combination with my air stone which runs 24/7 and without that then the co2 wouldnt make a damn bit of difference.

3 plants, 3 seeds. Proves zilch. My brother is 6 inches taller then me. Grew p under same conditions/meals. For an analogy. Clones, baby, clones for valid results.

Progress so far, some photies below.

I am still waitin for more tubings to arrive, have to stop here.
Finding the outer containter is quite a task, most shops have it but with no lid, settled with a touch open bin (I went for it because it has a flat top (stackable)).
I have used 4 x 2 Litres bottles, as it seems easlier for me, an empty ice-cream tub jarred nicely in between.
(there is height and space to step it up to 8 bottles by addin a shelf.)
Will start with 4 and see if there are enough pressure for a continuious bubbling.
the last 2 photies is the 'Check Value'-the red bit,
and the 'Bubble Counter'.

It's really not the O2 or CO2 that helps in a soil situation, it's the fact you're aerating the soil for beneficial bacteria to do their job. The plant itself really doesn't use it, but the bacteria around the roots that help fix nitrogen for the plant do.

Sadly the sites i've visited are split between saying use o2 or use CO2.

As a former Hort. Sci. teacher, I must say for the roots, for the aerobic bacteria that fix nitrogen, you'd be better off using O2. In soil, anyways.

I've never bothered to deal with aerating a hydro setup, as I always did the run, and change every day. No need to aerate.
