Does anyone where any eye protection while working under there HID's ? Im assuming that the high UV levels would not be good for your Cones and Rods as well as skin . Does anybody know of any harmful effects of prolonged exposure to the UV's of HID's

You have to worry about UV more with Metal Halide bulbs than with HPS, HPS puts out only so much and it's easily absorbed by the glass envelope, MH on the other hand puts out quite a bit and a lot gets through the envelope... but as long as you don't stare at the bulb or spend hours under it you should be fine

Yeah I was wondering the same thing.
I wonder if those amber colored sunglasses (blue blocker) would work.
