i use those peat pellets and for every clone in a peat pellet i put in an empty peat pellet. it acts like a damp sponge, lots of surface area to keep the air moist. also mist the leaves some.

Put the lid on it!

Assuming the lid is on your cloning tray, mist the plants a couple of times a day and leave it under a low wattage cfl so it gently warms the plants and the moisure will come off the misting and create humidity.

Use a dome...and don't mist. You want droplets of water to form on the lid of the dome but you don't want it to be dripping. Temp...70-85.

No fertilizers....no foliar feeding. You want them to WANT to grow roots. If they get what they need through the leaves they will blow ya off and may not root up.

good luck

Eh?

This is the first time I've EVER heard anyone, say don't mist clones with water, so you're gonna have to explain this.

So, explain to me how

1) The clones intake water if you're saying don't mist them. Remember, they have no roots yet, so where are they getting their water intake from?

2) How do you keep the humidity high, as close to 100% RH as you can get it, if you're not misting the plants? Where's the water coming from to create the humidity under the dome if you're not misting them?

If the clones aren't taking any water in through their leaves (because you're not misting them) or via their roots because they don't have any, where's the moisture coming from for the humidity? The plants aren't expiring it because they're not taking any in, so where's it coming from?

Also how do you expect the plants to survive if you're not giving them any water from misting? Where's their water intake coming from?

Over to you.

I've cloned without misting. The unrooted stem will uptake water, just like cut flowers will. The water uptake from the stem is enough to support the clone until it creates a root. I did this by having the clone sitting in water until it rooted.

Obviously misting is ideal. The point im making is that its not an absolute necessity.
