Default Green Light
I haven't checked this out yet, no time. So I thought I'd put it on here. I've heard that you can use green light to check your plants during the dark period in flower.

I've been told that you can leave it on all the time during the dark period if you so desired.

Anyone know if this is true?

I don't know if it is true but I also heard this, they say because the plant can't see that light spectrum or whatever

Can you even use incandescants (fuck, that was a mouthful. Hope I've spelled it right)?

As in any green-coloured bulb?

Hey skunkushybrid, while I have heard this to be true, I also heard to only use the green light when necessary. Total darkness is always best.
Peace

I bought a green rope light and put it all the way around my grow room for that purpose. Its like 50' long, no fixture necessary, about $20.00. VV

Hey Vic......The green light is not useless to the plant, it just is not used by chlorophyl to produce energy, it is very likely that it serves a signaling function for certain growth processes.

There is also some evidence that plants grow larger faster with green light filtered out, this accompanied some increased stretch.

Effects of Near Ultraviolet and Green radiation on plant growth.
Peace

I was thinking something similar Videoman. I remember when reading up on leds that certain vegetables grow better and greener when accompanied by green light, lettuces in fact.

Which is strange as they are very green and should reflect green light not absorb it. I think the green part of the spectrum is used in some small way. Yet, if this were the case then any light hitting the plants will disrupt the flowering process, green or not.
