Hey all,
Just looking to find out if I could get good results with 4 LED light panels. Each panel has 60 Blue light LEDs: 465nm (nanometer) wave length 165 Red light LEDs: 650nm (nanometer) wave length 165 + 60 = Total 225 LEDs and each put out 13.8 Watts = 55.2 Watts all together. Would this be sufficient to grow as the primary light source for an aerogarden?

I would be a little leary of any LED system that only focuses on two wavelengths. Chlorophyll is the main pigment involved with photosynthesis, as a matter of fact there are two - Chloropyll-A and Chlorophyll-B. Each one of these has it's own "peak obsorbtion rate", for light energy, at a different wavelength. This ends up giving us four different wavelengths (two red and two blue) that should be considered as "prime wavelengthes". There are also other crucial pigments that are "fed" by even different wavelengths of light - these other pigments are almost always ignored by LED manufacturers, because fewer wavelengths make for a simpler manufactureing process.
I think this type of trade off is a big mistake - and the main reason why LED's don't produce better results with cannabis. Just my $.02 worth. At this time, IMHO, LED's are better suited for someone that is in "Experimental Mode". I would really like to see some tests done with LED lights that provide a wider assortment of wavelengths - but that's just me! |

I have bought the panel that you are speaking of and it wasn't enough to do a good grow. I also found that the light doesn't break up like it should and you end up with blue and red spots. I went out and made the investment in a 100-Watt LED system and am having good success. They aren't cheap but they last forever and pretty much eliminate the need or additional cooling. Take a look at LED Grow Lights - HomeGrownLights.com . They claim that it outputs the equivalent of a 400W HPS. What are your panels rated at? Are they the 45-Watt panels or the 15-Watt panels? If they are the 15-Watt panels you could have a hundred of them and it won't make a difference. The 45-Watt may be good for clones or seedlings but not for a full grow. I bought the light blaze 400 and have been disapointed by customer service and the light will randomly go out for 10-15 minutes every now and then. They are supposed to be sending another but that was two weeks ago and still isn't here.

i can backup thepeoplechamps becuse im em curently using the same as the poster lights. and they work.. just not good alone but with a Flourecent they work real good. there more less a Support light but not worth the 50$ i droped to get them tell ya that.
But i ahwile back i was growing a very nice Female plant the was just so good lookin and even better lookin under the 1 LED 255 light. but then one day a horrible accdent happened. one of my lights fell on it one day just enjoying its coolness then next day my light like smoked it its actully burnt it. so in the end the lights do work but i wouldnt from atleast what ive been threw grow alone with them. get some Floury's and it will work just great its what im doing and its workin very good. |
