HPS light systems are too much money for me. are there any good alternatives that are cheaper. i'm just starting out so I'm not striving for perfect bud just decent

Well.................how about CFL's (compact fluorescent) their as cheap as 6 26watt for 16.00 bucks

how much longer would a harvest take on cfl's than on HID's?

I don't really know how much longer it would take, but you could check out some CFL grow journals and see how long it took for them to go from seedling to harvest.

if your going to go with cfls get envirolites with a decent reflector

MAn at the end of the day buy the time you buy the cfls and fixtures you could probably get a 400 w hps for not that much more and you would be so much happier with the results ,.

Ebay has some good prices on HPS light systems

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ No shit, joekikass! I try to tell 'em..but they don't listen and think they can sustain their smoking habit on a *toy* light set up. Kids...you can read yer Harry Potter books by those CFL's but to grow ANY QUANTITY of WEED they suck ass...plain and simple.

Consider the cost of what you're going to grow and the legality of growing it...and then think how much you spend on street weed. For the price of 1/2 z you can buy a 400/1000 watt light and be SET for a long time.

Balk and waste time /$$$ on CFL and you'll be joining in with the rest of the crowd here who grow ONE measely plant that will last them about as long as it takes to GERM the next crop's seed.

Then they're out of weed...back out on the street (and typing on the Net about how they can "speed this process up")...STILL whining that they don't have the cash OR THE BUD in hand to buy the proper kind of light they need to stay high.

In the end, you may have to SACRIFICE for awhile to get going, ya know?

Kids, this isn't a new hobby and the path has been blazed (literally) for you to follow. All you have to do is listen, buy the right shit and LOOK AHEAD and you will be successful in this endeavor.

If you don't have the room. (read, somewhere besides mommies house)..the cash..or the time to invest you should take up knitting wool hats instead of growing.

Dude , check out this 400 Watt HPS, it's such a good deal,I have 2 more I just ordered coming in the mail right now.....HPS will save you so much money in the long run, and this one is so inexpensive it's crazy, you will make your money back and alot more your first harvest......
