Default quick question about soil ph

ok so my soil ph was at 8 i found out today...so to counter that i mixed up a gallon of filtered water with a dollup of ph down, water was phed at ~4.5

will this help balance my soil ph problem or did i just fuck over my plants

Keep mixing up 6.3 and pouring in it, that's too low, but will help for quick response, would check it tomorrow and just add 6.3-6.8
