Flushing (Veg/Harvest)

Should I flush my plants when I see first signs of flowering? or before? Im already on 12/12 for about 10 days. Will this cause any because it is overwatering. Also how exactly should I do it?

I do a light flush before flower, but it depends on what and how much you've been feeding. I start feeding for bloom on day one, and by the end of the first week flowers are already forming.

Light flush= 2gal plain pHed water for 5gal bucket.

This is just what works for me, there are many different ways of preparing for flower/flushing.

Since you're ten days in, and still haven't started bloom nutes, that might be why you aren't seeing flowers yet (your other thread)

For me I always leech my soil every month and the first day when I am to havest within a 7-10 day window. You use either water or what I use is water mixed with clearex. I use about 2-3 times the volume of the container I want to flush the possible toxic salt buildup. And then I introduce an extremely mild form of a nutrient cocktail because when you flush you are getting rid of toxic salt buildup and existing nutrients in your medium. If you do not use a mild nutrient solution after flushing then you are inviting yourself for a nutrient deficiency.

Yeah, that's more of a flush, what i do is really make the plant eat what's left in the soil, instead of adding nutes.

I normally water 1gal per 5gal, and 'flush' with 2 gals.

I'm gonna try out more of a flush, like 2x the pot size, now that I'm in a basement with drains. Before I was always in a bedroom, so excess runoff wasn't possible. I feed very light, 800 peak, and use organics, so it really does depend on what nutes, soil mix etc.

Usually 2-3x the pot size, from what I've always heard.

My soil already had nutes in it, and I put plant food spikes in the pots a week ago. The spikes last for a month. Should I do a flush then buy some flowering nutes? Did really plan this out but my plants are growing wonderful.

Plant spikes?

Like the kind for a tomato garden?

Take those out if you can still see them, and get some cannabis specific nutes, that's the best route imo.

Just wanted to interject with a little tip for flushing that I find useful. One problem with flushing is that you have to move your plants and make a mess of water wherever you are doing the flushing. What I do to avoid this is I use my wet dry vac, and just stick the nozzle in the drain pan, then when I pour excess amounts of water through my soil the water is just pulled straight out of the pan and into the vaccuum. This way I don't need to risk the plants by moving them and there is no mess to clean up after the flush is done. Just a little tip and my 2 cents. Good Luck no matter what your decision on this one.

Its for indoor outdoors plants. 6-12-6. 6% Nitrogen 12% Phosphate 6% Potash. I wont be able to get them out. Ill just leave them and ill flush my plants in a couple day.

No problem, it's the little things that make a big difference sometimes, and it's always nice to pass on things you've learned along the way. I'm surprised that I have never heard anyone else using this method before, and I really just thought about it this summer while cleaning up after a flood in my basement --lightbulb--.

As for the purpose of this thread, I would say that you should flush, mainly to get rid of some of that spike. I would probably do like 2 gallons phed water per gallon of soil (I wouldn't usually go this strong, but it will help melt out most of those spikes). Then start immediately with a small dose of flowering nutes. Don't overdo the nutes though because the spikes will probably still be working for a bit. Just take the nutes easy for the first week or two until you see that your plants can handle it and then if there is no burn you can increase your nutes.

That's really up to you there are so many different brands depending if you want to go organic or chemical, just pick one that seems pretty easy and inexpensive and see how you like it, you have the rest of your life to experiment. Lots of people seems to like foxfarm nutes, which seem pretty straight forward and come with a feeding chart. Otherwise if you don't have access to a hydro store and don't want to order online, just use any (within reason) bloom/flowering nutes you can find at your local nursery or hardware store, just look for something with a high p value. Good luck however you decide to go.

Excellent advice from regrets

You should hit the +rep for him ^^its up there.

Thanks bro. Idk if im going to even buy nutes after I flush. Is it really necessary?

If you plan on getting any yield at all, yes it's very important.

I have seen someone grow with no nutes. It tastes fine, perfectly flushed but there were no real buds, just some scraggerly weed looking things.

I'd recommend using some nutes. Look for the N-P-K value on the front of the bag/box. There are 3 numbers, like 20-20-20, this would be a all purpose general fertilizer, depending on what type is available to you, for blooming nutes, miracle grow is really basic, but I personally wouldn't want to smoke miracle grow.

Google "Hydroponic supplies (your city)" and if there is a hydro store DEFINATELY go there and get a basic bloom nutrient, I'd recommend Advanced Nutrients 2part A and B, it's two bottles, that you add together in water. Two gallons will last you forever, so just get the liters, it should cost less than 30 bucks. If you have a little extra cash get a little thing of Advanced Nutrients Big Bud, a liter of liquid, or a small packet of powder. You'll get awesome results.

Chances are they won't carry Advanced Nutrients, if the have FoxFarm, just ask them for a basic chart, Tiger Bloom is respected by a lot of growers.

If there isn't any hydro shops, see if the Home Depot or Wal Mart nearby, and no matter where you live I'm sure there's one nearby, has any organic fertilizers on the shelf. If not go with Miracle Grow I guess,(I can't believe I'm suggesting Miracle Grow :dunce: ) You need the use some nutes is all.

But seriously read up in the FAQ link, you could spend a couple hours reading some great information. It's up at the top. FAQ.

Also, is that a "blow-tube" or smoke scent filter on you lap?

A tube with dryer sheets stuffed in it?

Everyone knows nobody does laundry in their dorm room.

Plus is smells like weed and laundry, it doesn't work, tell your friends their better off walking around campus and getting stoned, they'll met some cool people.
