Seed...........
is it better to grow a seed into a mother plant or take a clone from a seedling and let the clone grow into a mother plant?
Seed...........
I don't see how that would make any difference. I started my setup with 2 clones that were given to me and I have had great success. I have grown a few from bag seed so I could get the experience and saw no difference between the two. In the end I think it comes down to genetics. If you have good genetics a clone mother is just as good as from seed. That is all I ever use now.
A bad day in the grow rooms is better than a good day at work!
A strong & healthy plant makes the best mother
clone, no guessing the sex. hate to grow a seed for 2 months only to find out its a daddy.

If you want to know what makes the best mother plant, it is a seed.... Ask any professional grower and they will tell you the same thing..... You do not want to be cloning from clones that have been cloned.... it weakens the genetics over time.... Yes it takes longer to grow a seed up to a mother and yes there is the chance that a seed will be a male, but that wasn't the question at all........... My response is not my opinion, it's factual truth
Disregaurd the people like the one above. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. A lot of professional growers actually think that seeds can be a bad idea because they need to go through a few generations of clippings to make the genetically strong enough to reach their full potential. Clones are already at this state when you recieve them.
On top of that if you plant form seed you will have to select a mom. A clone is proven everyone has the same thing and they know what to expect. You could have a haze and afgan cross and the seed come out looking like an Afghan but take 74 days to finish. You would never know this till you do it.
I also don't think seeds are genetically stronger link I said befoe seeds need to be grown out for a while to reach their maturity. Like grow the seeds the take cuts, the take cuts of the cuts, then cuts of the cuts and they will be 'mature'.
If you wanted to make your 'own' weed start from seed. It will be different than other peoples. Sees usually lean from one parents traits all the way to the others and have everything in between. So keep that in mind too,.
seed....enough said
Thank you!!!!!!!!! That guy(edux10) with all the mumbo jumbo was missing the point like most of the rest of the respondents up above... A seed will make the best mother.... PERIOD!
seeds will not necessarily make the best mother... I honestly think it's a mute point, but I started with seeds that I purchased from a reputable seed company. Among the ten seeds I germinated four of them turned out to be heavier yielders than the other. Of those four two of them were ridiculously fast paced growers which really wasn't ideal for me growing indoors hydroponically. So out of the 10 seeds I initially started with two of them proved to be amazing in both yield, height, and quality. Early on I took 2 cuttings from each of the 10 plants. I threw out all of the cuttings except for the ones that came off of those two plants. Cuttings allow you to keep a plants genetics going for GENERATIONS! With all that said I've never had a problem with my mother plants and at about 4 or so passings I just replace the mother with a new cutting... Quality will not, can not ever diminish. I don't understand what everyone is talking about, but if you are taking cuttings from an already established plant then cuttings are by far superior. Cuttings cut out the entire germination time and are guaranteed female every time. I can not believe you have gotten some of the responses you have. I hope this information helps. Take care and good luck!
