Re-Vegging a plant
|
|
Howdy! I've read a few posts about re-vegging recently, and by coincidence, I am in the process of doing that at the moment. So I thought I'd share my experience along the way. My reasoning for doing this was I neglected to take any clones from my babies, and I regret that. Mazar is the shit to smoke, in my opinion! Super strong, I havent had weed this strong in years, it has a fruity taste, and the smell alone will get you high! The more you smoke, the higher you get.
Rather that start with pics, I'll tell you what I have done and/or learned. The two are not always the same. lol
As I harvested her, I took the top 2/3rds of the plant. I left all the lower sucker buds, and as many leaves as possible. What did I do wrong, or rather what would I do differently next time....I would recommend trimming the roots for one. I didn't do this, but it makes alot of sense to me, as there is a direct connection between the height of a plant and the roots. Having cut the top 2/3rds, I should of trimmed the roots too. I am going to re-pot her soon. Additionally I started to re-veg using 18/6 lighting, I believe the 1st week should have been 24 hour lighting, than switch to 18/6.
I am using growbig by foxfarm right now for nutes. I also used one mixture of molasses to feed the soil. I'm waiting on a delivery of MaxiCrop liquid seaweed too.
Moving on, at first she looked like crap! lol She really did, with some odd growth. She still looks odd as compared to what she looked like originally. There also is NO time gain in doing this. I thought there should be, as you have an already fomed root system. I think it'll need a full month of vegging to bring her back to where she was originally.
One odd factor is the smell, she still smells as strong as the day I harvested her, maybe even stronger. I had her out last night, trimming some of the dead growth off her, and she filled the entire house with her aroma, but it smells ohhhh so sweet.
Okay, here is how she looked originally, prior to harvest:
This is how she looks now:
Hmmm, where did he leave his weed?
So at this point, I am waiting for the plant to catch up and drop any dead growth and grow some more leaves.
Feel free to comment.
Peace

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it to you but you have one ugly looking growth on your right shoulder. The shit is scary looking, man. You need to have that checked out, dude.

I intend on re-vegging as well. But I saw someone that took the plant down to the base. You've left quite a bit a vegetation still on it. I'll have to research the various options. Any remarks on your approach?

I am quite sure that if he took it down to the stem, it died after you saw it. Without a fair amount of leaves it will certainly die. I was also taught to leave some sucker buds in place. I'm not sure the reason behind this, but it dosent matter to me, as the smaller buds are nor worth much at all.
It does seem to be working, but it is time consuming.
The only thing that has me wondering now is about the yeild and potency. I've heard some reports saying it's less, or not as good, but I gotta say that the plant smells ALOT. You almost get high just smelling it.
Peace

VM, I don't know if smell is an indicator of potency or not. One would think it is but then I just chopped 2 males and they both stunk to high heaven.

I would think so, yes. I love the smell of my mazar, and, honestly, I regret not buying more mazar seeds. Of course every strain is different.

Can you explain the reason behind root trimming to me?
