|
Hi
This is my 1st tree and was never told i needed it to keep
it short.. using 1000w HPS on rail tho not much light
getting to bottom..
Should I :
- cut it down to half in week7 to havest top and
give 2 more weeks for bottom to grow with extra light
OR
- Should i cut away some of bottom flowers so top end
gets most of the attention .
Please Help
Its in week 3 now....

i would wait till the top is ready for harvesting then harvest the top and leave the bottom flowering till its allso ready .It would be a waste just to cut the bottom away now .

since you got a rail and if you got the space to do it, i would put it flat on the ground so the entire plant gets ligh and you won't have to cut around on it in flower. since it reached 7ft bending it alone will be not an option any more nor am i an fan of cutting/topping during flower, so i would strongly surgest that you lay it flat on the ground, parallel under your light rail sys

Good advise green,
This is the best solution to your dilemma, Darran...IMHO.

Regardless of strain, the growth or stretch after switching to 12/12 will continue for about 1/3rd the entire length of the flowering cycle. So if they finish in 8 weeks, you have at least 2 and a half weeks of vertical growth to contend with after flowering.
Tie the top shoots down now! You don't have any other option if the plants are too tall for your space and you're already flowering... it's too late to trim them back and if you can't raise the light or lower the plants you have to tie them back.
Get some good staking points either on the plant containers or in the tray and pull down the tallest shoots until they are at a managable canopy level. They will revert back to top growth and be pointing up a few hours after tying them down. You won't get the big huge top colas but you will likely increase your yield.
