Question If you use the bare minimum of light needed......

Hypothetical...

If you use the bare minimum of light needed for the plant to grow healthy, Then say 70 percent later into its total life span you give it double or even triple the amount of light that it lived its hole life threw... Which this time would be more then likely several weeks into flowering. Do you think it would greatly effect the overall yield?

If you want numbers...
Say it was... I'm pretty sure the bare minimum of lumen's is 3000...
So say it was 3000 lumens of light its recieveing. FOR ONE PLANT. Then you flip it up to 10000 lumens like 2 weeks before harvest.

Now your original yield more then likely, with no upgrade in lumens, probably would of been a half an oz or less, more depending on strain and environment...

But do you think with that pretty big change in lumens, that it would effect the end result (aka yield) in a big way. Or it would just help it grow faster but nothing really changing...

So instead of a half an oz you would get an oz, or possibly more...
Or would it be to far along to make any significant changes?

All answers appreciated. Curious to see if it actually would effect it in a big way... (I say big way, cause it's inevitably going to effect the plant, but will it make an overall major difference in yield)

Also... Say it turns to be true... That would mean that you could vegg and flower your plants in a much cheaper, weaker, light, then for its last couple weeks give it triple more... Soo majority of your grow save money on light costs with a less powerful light. And save on heat. Then later on use the big stuff...
Just a thought

We do this all the time, no problem. Lots of folks veg under flourescents (which are dim comparably speaking) and then flower under high intensity lights.

Some people give the plant a little period of adjustment, big light further away for a day (me) or some even stretch that to a week or whatever (not me) and I know many others who don't do anything to make the transition easy at all too.

Having said that if you take the same plant and go from indoor flouro to outdoor full sun it needs to be in stages, but I get the impression your light might not be as strong as full sunlight.

Thumbs up

no problem whatsoever, i go from 2 x 125w eco-lites in veg room, dunno exactly what the lumens are but theyre somewhere around 10000-12000lm each, straight into 600w hps 92000lm in flower room, they love the light gain! but why not use a 10000lm light for the whole grow, 3000lm isnt gonna do much for you in terms of bud production.
