Clone-ee McClone Clones
|
|
I've gone a-cloning, a-rooting, and just generally trying to keep my shit straight. I built a quickie clone box because I don't want to wait too long or too late, figuring I had better get some sort of technique down! What have I got to lose, except some time, eh? I give you the Clone-ee McClones.
Taken on two different nights, they've been in the bathroom because it tends to get soft, even light, and is more temperature stable. I don't have lights to put them under at this time, that's a problem solved at a later date. I figure I should be able to use Father Sun for a while. Anyway, those taken two nights ago are showing a whitening of the growing tips. I was thinking about putting them out today or tomorrow. An area with good filtered sunlight is what I'm thinkin'... as a matter of fact, after I post this, I'm gonna go move 'em, right now.

If they are not rooted yet they need very little light. Very little

Ok! They can't be rooted yet, it's day two for the youngest/most recent clones.

Give 'em at least 7-10 days in soil and they should be fine as long as humidity is above 50%.
I just had 6 clones show roots in 6 days in a DWC bubbler with NO ROOTING HORMONES OR CLONING POWDERS/GELS!
Just leave them be and they'll flourish!

Keep them in a dome for 6-10 days and as long as they are not wilting, they should be fine. As soon as you see new growth, transplant and put them in veg. The idea of cloning was more intimidation that actully cloning. I also built a homemade cloner and it works great. As a matter of fact, it works so good, I am covered up in new female plants. I expected to lose a few so I made more than I needed. Now, with them all surviving I don't have space.
Good luck and just let those girls do their thing. The less you mess with them the better.

i think the best type of cloning in purely water, cut a clone and stick it in some water and keep humiditiy high with a little light and you will almost always see roots. I actually have never had roots not show just using water. sometimes it can take a while but 100% so far.

They seem to at least not mind being out on the back deck again (north side this time), although keeping humidity up was a problem later in the afternoon. I've cleared out a larger bin, and I can actually fit in a cool humidifier. It needs to be plugged in, but I only need it to go for so long, right? I know I can turn it off at night since the humidity will stay up more easily (did last night). My husband said he can build me a quickie CFL set-up, we have on hand two sockets, plenty of plywood and other scraps... stuff like that. Might even have some CFLs on hand in one of the closets.
Does anyone else get sad when they think about how the really nice looking ones are gonna die? I've got one, Bonsai Babe, she's been through fucking everything, yet still looks great.

just get a humidity dome ( High Tech Garden Supply ) with a bottom and keep water in the bottom to keep your humidity up high.
