Cloning with no mother?
|
|
Is it possible, if the timing is correct, to veg a plant until it's large enough, take cuttings for a few clones, and induce flowering on the donor plant. While the clones are taking root and growing, finish flowering and harvest, then move the clones to the flower room, veg for a bit then take new cuttings, and repeat? I ask because I have limited room, and with one grow cab and a smaller clone box I wondered if I could do this. anyone do it this way?

you could definitely do that! we've been thinking of doing something like that ourselves, and i don't see any logical reason why it wouldn't work!

I imagine you'd just need a clone box tall enough to accomodate the clones as they grow, maybe enough room for them to be 12" or so. I think you could take your clones after the flowering light cycle has been initiated but before the plant starts to flower. The idea would be to plan so you are harvesting as close to taking the cuttings as possible. 8 weeks is pretty average, and I've read that clones will take about 4 weeks to start vegitative growth again. About a week to start rooting? It'd def be time sensitive, but might work well!

Yes you could and I have done that before in the past. I have even seen people take clones from plants that just entered the flowering stage not even into week 2.

Yes, you can. The only thing you need to worry about is after about the fouth generation the DNA begins to degrade, so you may incounter more of a tendancy to hermie or weaker restances. Basicly around then you should plant some more seeds and repeat.

Nice, thanks! By then I'd probably be ready for a different strain anyway.
