i have made tea with dried pods and another time by washing 2 pounds of seeds with acids the pods are better and easier to do. seeds do on there surfaces contain opiate alkaloids there is not much and you need much seeds(sometimes they wash them and they are then useless) so i recommend the dried pods. poppy seeds do contain low levels of opiates. you will test positive for codein and morphine alkaloids if you eat enough poppy seed containing foods. we once tested this because people were debating if that was true and yes you can get a positive test this way same as a positive test for cocaine alkaloids if you have had novacaine or lidocaine within 48 hours. so yes you can make tea from seeds but it is a pain and tastes terrible but if done right it certainly works youre better off with pods though. besides they come full of viable seeds to grow and are more potent for tea. (sun dried poppies.com) is where i got mine. another myth is that it is illegal to grow poppy seeds it is not it is illegal to manufacture opiates from them

i'm pretty sure it's a federal offense to grow them. please state your sources before everyone gets in trouble.

well there is clearly confusion on this subject if that is law it is not enforced and makes no sense. i was just on sun dried poppies.com sight and they clearly state that they grow there poppies in the western united states. also dried poppies can be purchased everywhere at flowershops and seeds are available in bulk if needed with no restrictions i have bought pounds at a time. poppystraw would of course be illegal because you have begun to process it into opiates that are usable. so im not sure on this one it is definetly not treated like cannabis. i consider cannabis to be illegal in most states. but if i can easily buy something from reputable american companies i dont see how this could be deemed illegal unless totaly unenforced leo

just curious whats poppystraw?my friends dad was telling us his nugs were laced with opium somehow but couldn't explain more so i always thought it had to just be some different dankies. always got us pretty blazed tho. i cant believe its legit. how safe is smoking opium or opium laced weed compared to just weed alone?

u can buy mushroom spores too... they had to come from somewhere (illegal mushrooms) but the spores are legal... it all comes down to cultivating...

something funny happened today on a 35mile training ride i was riding home and caught a glanse of something familiar in a flower garden facing the street papaver.s of some kind. in a flower arangement in front of someones house litterally the same day i was discussing this on a forum that is just too funny to me. anyways so i hopped off my bike and pulled a screw that was in my back pack and proceded to scrape the pods(quckly obviously) i scraped a few and white milk like substance came out. this was on a public street so i grabbed a few and took them home and scraped again but i think they lost vascular pressure so i squeezed them and got a little to come out of maybe 20 closed pods of various sizes. i should have scrapped all while on the stem anyways i got at least what looks like 1 or 2 good hits clearly many would need to be grown to produce any respectable amount of opium i think this is why laws are vaugely enforced. anyways i took pics of the pods and small amount of opium i scraped i will post if anyone wants to see. i could also take a pic of the actual growing plants so everyone knows what to look for anyways this is hilarious to me because of timing

Poppy straw is nothing more than the dried flower stalks. The top 2-3" below the pod has enough treats to brew for tea; the rest is not worth the effort and will dilute your product, like adding fan leaves to your best bud.
Bike- you may have gotten them way early. If there are more, let them go until 10 days after they drop their petals, or when the little crown-points turn up. Be careful you aren't ripping off someone's grow- I have them in my gardens to camouflage them.
