Basically i took a cutting from one of my salvia plants about two weeks ago maybe three. I set it up in a large plastic box that was filled about 3-4 inches with water. and the cutting its self was sat in the top of a bottle (the bottle had a hole in it so the water surrounding it filled the bottle meaning the stem was covered in water. And then the top of the box was covered in cling film.

Anyway now the roots have been developing for over a week. when they first showed i placed it in rockwool. Then in a cup in the same box full of water. Anyway the plant was doing great, root development was fine. The roots are nearly out of the small cube so i stuck it in a larger one now. Anyway its time to remove the cutting so i took it into my grow area. and within two hours it has wilted completely. I've never seen a plant react so fast. I soaked the rock wool cube as i guesed it could have been due to the fact its used to lots of water, but nothing.

Any idea as to what im doing wrong??

maybe it was 2 close to the light..what type of light??

its under fluros, but it was quite sheltered in my grow room. if anything it was getting anything near the amount of light as the rest of the plants in my grow room, the light was about 15 inches away. Even in the box it didnt get much light at all. This is why it doesnt make any sense to me :S everything seems matched apart from the fact shes not litraly IN the water. Just in a water logged cube of rock wool.

What's your humidity like, might be too low?

Yeah thats the only thing i thought could be it, as i know when taking a clone i needs to have a high humidity. Although in my green house it has quite a high humidity, more so than the box is anything. But it is warmer in there. She hasnt picked up in the other box again yet, i hope she does. Its weird how flaccid she got so fast.

I dont want to have to grow her in the box the whole time, as although she is growing roots she doesnt seem to be showing any other form of development.

salvia needs high humidity, the thing is that salvia takes a long time to adjust to lower humidity, put it back in the box and re seal it, put a few holes in the top, then every few days make them bigger after a few weeks take the whole top off, and then take it out, i had the same problem with my salvia.

ok great cheers,i'll try that, i was going to slowly reduce the amount of water surrounding it slowly. But now i'll just make holes. Cheers for the help!
