Hello, I just went to the Philadelphia Flower Show and I got a Butterfly orchid for my mom. My question is what kind of lighting dose it need to stay alive.
I have a 400 watt Mh that im using for my other grow and was wondering what i can do with it for my orchid.
Ive heard that orchids cannot tolerate direct sunlight but dose that mean only the flower itself or the whole plant.

no idea on the orchid thing...i know about other plants though

Hey I am not a flower pro, but I keep my orchids in my kitchen window all year and they do great.

place it farther away from your bulb, usually i keep my marijuana around 40 in. from the light and all the other plants on racks around the room they all do great. is it in dirt or bark?

my fiance just got her moth orchid to bllom just putting it in the window for about 2 years lol but i had an old room mate who was an orchid faanatic and she could could gtet them to gow beautifully what she did was build like a terarium with clear mesh walls and put 2 shelves with some kind of flrouecent grow lights and they bloomed for her perfectly everytime i dont think they ned a 400w mh

and she uised some ind of orchid specific nutes dont know what kind i didnt care about plants when i lioved tyhere lol but our house was a freaking jungle of mostly legal psychoactive plants she even had one of those orchids form the movie adaptation a ghost orchid but i dont know if you can really extract a drug form them


also it seems that all orchids take like litterally years to bloom
