    Question How to clone? (TOMATO)

I want to practice cloning to I will be prepared and ready to clone my MJ plants when they are big enough.

So I have 2 Fireball tomato plants in an aeroponic system right now and I want to butcher them to make clones for soil tomatoes that will actually taste good. I want to know how to go about cloning them from these 2 I have so they can have a super head start as opposed to starting from seed.

Here are the plants. Where do I cut? How big do the clones need to be? How many leaves and what type of leaves do the clones need? What can I clone them in, a cup of water, soil, aerated water?

First you cut a branch off at the node, then you get a clean razor and make a 45 degree cut, third you scrape the bottom inch with the razor blade just enough to make the stem a little frilly. After that you can splice the up the middle and dip it in some cloning gel. Pop it in your medium.

I don't know if cloning tomatoes will prepare you for MJ, seems like you could practice on them as well. But y

Cloning tomato is no comparison to cannabis. Rip a branch off and stick it in wet soil. It will root and be a healthy plant. Cannabis is a bit more finicky and not as hearty.

break branch, stick in dirt. dude tomato has to be the EASIEST plant to clone seriously.

maybe a baggie over the top to keep moisture in, tomato plant clones will develop roots in one day not scraping noy 45 degree cut nothing, a stick in the ground i do it all the time. cash cropping would be easy as fuck if weed cloned like a tomato plant.

Okay the point of the post was I wanted to use the cloning practices of cannabis to get used to doing it right and having success.

Just stick in a glass of water. Depending on the temp and state of mother plant it will root in 3-6 days. I even uprooted a abused tomato plant, came back the next day, and broke a branch--right to water. Within 2 hours the branch looked more healthy than the plant had before I uprooted it. No dirt no baggie no dome needed. I usually transfer to dirt with 3" roots and they just BLOW up. I did an experiment this year and transplanted some outside (from water no dirt inbetween) directly into full sun soil outside. They bleached out the top leaves but within a week they were fully recovered and going like gangbusters. Just saying, tomatoes barely even need hardening off if the cultivar is hearty enough.

Do not waste your cloning gel on this fast rooting plant.

Do the cuttings have to be thick and long because every single clone I have tried that was 2-4 inches just shrivel up and die but the longer 6"+ and 1/4"+ Thick cuttings don't shrivel up and die as fast or even at all they seem to hold their own and make it quite easy but anything smaller I have no luck with. The stem just gets mushy and shrivels.

Here is a perfect example of what I am talking about with the larger thicker cuttings compared to the shorter thinner cuttings.

Here is a side by side of one that is thick and longer that 6 inches next to a shriveled up 4 inch thinner cutting. both taken at the same time.

Here are more of what I am referring too. Bigger cuttings doing fine smaller just slump over and die.

Is it safe to say thick and woody stems are way easier and root faster? I thought it was the opposite for cannabis. Is that true? for cannabis you don't want thick woody stems for cloning but for tomatoes you do?

i literally just took a few cuts the other day, left them right next to a window that gets good light with nothing, but a little bit of tap water . The cut rooted within' a week. Tomato plants clone pretty damn easily.
