I just received an order from Mountain Rose Herbs. Bought myself a variety of herb seeds... Peppermint, catnip, chamomile, Lavender, etc.
I've also been contemplating growing some other, more "altered consciousness" inducing herbs and plants. Dream herb, San Pedro cactus, Sinicuichi... A couple of good sites I've used in the past for seeds: I Am Shaman, and Ethnogarden Botanicals

The beauty of herbs is that you can fill a flat full of seeds in the fall, keep it indoors while the seeds germinate and begin to grow, and then come spring time you can either keep it inside, or move it outside and plant in the ground. It doesnt require a whole lot of tending... Same premise as your ladies... You just need to know what environment each type of plant likes to grow in.

I have tons of different seed left over from last season, but I am compelled to order more anyway.
FWIW, these are my two favorite seed sources....
Annual Flowers - Burpee
Perennial Flowers - Burpee
Vegetables - Burpee
Harris Seeds - Browse

Edit
I was soo stoned when I posted this that I forgot all about Park Seeds.....very happy with their plants!

Here is a question for you guys who grow herbs. How the hell do you keep insects off of them. I had some lemon basil that got severely molested this summer, no matter what I tried the Japanese beetles and other insects ate the hell out of it. Any suggestions?
