hi, i use A LOT of tomatoes in my cooking and was wondering if someone could give me a basic outline of whats involved doing this hydro. I've currently got seedlings under MH and wandered if tomatoes could be added in with them...

and what is good to grow them in?

You can do whatever combo you want, I'm growing tomatos aswell I can't wait till they harvest.

I am currently just growing mine in two 5 gallon buckets for ease in soil. Maybe DWC in 5 gallon buckets to keep them seperate. Not sure what your current setup is besides the MH lighting

Just remember to give them a shake when the flowers start showing. I grew one last year. I kept getting flowers but no fruit.

I have grown them indoors in hydro. As stated above, you need to shake them around to help them pollinate themselves. Since your indoors, I assume no bugs, and in nature bugs pollinate the flowers.
I had fans blowing over them and I would use a cheap battery powered tooth brush to vibrate and touch each flower. That also aids in pollination as your "spreading the love".

But good air circulation and good shaking of the plants should spread enough pollen around for you to set fruit.

This helping pollination needs to be done daily for the duration of the grow for good fruiting results.
