Default My tomato plant fell over!
I think it was a combination of the weight of the plant and the too-small cage it was growing in

Should I cut the cage out of it and try to stake it up, ya think? Or could I get away with leaving the cage (it isn't biting into the stems or anything) and maybe rigging up some stakes around the perimeter of the plant with some garden twine? The main stem didn't break, luckily, and it escaped with very little damage overall. I've gotta save this plant, because I'm really looking forward to some juicy, ripe tomaters!

Any advice is appreciated =)

yeah i'd say rig up some stakes and twine.. that's what i've done and it works great.. just make sure you string it where the weight is..

Thanks guys!

This one was "indeterminate", and I used a small cage with the full intention of switching to a larger one before the plant grew into it. Never quite got around to that =p

I've also got this yellow pear tomato plant that's roughly 4 feet tall and in a too-small pot. It's producing, but the pot is threatening to fall over and isn't deep enough for an effective staking job. Is it a good idea to take it out of the pot at this point and plant it in the ground?
