Default Tomato Problems! Can anyone help me?
whats up!?

Iv been growing tomatoes for years.

But starting last year, after the tomatos start to ripen and turn red, the bottoms start to rot before they finish on every plant, in the same bed.

Now a year later, the plants are going great in the begining, but as they ripen its happening again.

Has anyone experienced this before?
Is there anything i can do to save them from all rotting before they ripen?

Cool weather may be the cause; tomatoes like it hot. There is also a nasty mildew going around on the east coast (US).

as by rot do you mean they start with a brown water mark type thing then it spreads around base of tomato.

it sounds like you could have blossom end rot, this can be caused by a number of factors, lack of magnisium and/or calcium also watering being infrequent and causing the plant to not take up enough calcium.

you can use epsom salts or other topical brews from local garden centres.

Yes that is exactly what happens!
Okay ill try the epsom salt.

Oh and i know this thread is only for regular plants, but i have a MJ plant veging right next to the Tomatos, do you think the same thing can happen to it durring flowering? I figure the MJ would be more resilient, but i have no clue yet.

Yeah lol
My father stole a seedling from me and planted it there.
He didnt realize how big the plant would get, so i topped it, and been FIMing it to try and keep it short. But itll prob still be 5 1/2 feet tall by the time it matures.
Even tho calling the cops isnt the most popular choice around my area, its probably more likely to get stolen... Im getting ready to train it and go to homedepot and buy a few things to give my yard a lil more privacy.
Thanks tho!

aye check he internet before treating tomato's.

there are plenty of purchasable chemicals that can cure blossom rot. have a good look on internet and maybe find a more pocket friendly alternative.

i went natures own way. take of ALL /ANY tomatos that have blossom rot and discard them. the tomato plant ( in ground) should sort itself out over next couple of weeks' this is what i done and have had no other BER problems so far. yes you are loosing some of your harvest but this removal is needed you dont want that fruit rotting on the vine and causing other problems and it will help bulk other toms up.

blossom end rot only affects the tomato it is on. it will not infect other toms around or other plants.

maryjane is slightly like tomato plants but blossom end rot only affects fruiting plants like cucumbers tomatos etc etc not cannabis

I found epsom salts take way too long to subside blossom rot compared to a 3/4 strength chemical bloom fertilizer with calcium added like cal-mag or magiCAL during feeding. My roma tomato had it really bad and I've tried everything until I bent over and used chemical. Next year add enough bonemeal(for slow release calcium) to the soil for both cannibas and tomatoes.
