Default WTF is wrong with my toamatoes
some of my tomatoes are turning black and rotting on the bottom. its pissing me off cuz i cant figure out why. at first i thought maybe they were lying on the ground and rotting but most of the rotting ones are up off the ground. and ive harvested several off the ground that are fine. my grandma said it was bloom rot what ever that is, and that theres little to do for it anyone know anymore about this? anything i can do? or i just gotta bite the bullet. here are some pics. or not they seem to be too big.

anyway the bottom of the tomatoe is all black and rotten sometimes up to half way up. the romas and the better boys are getting it. mostly the romas.

Same thing that is killing my tomatoes, habaneros, and melons. Too much water and humidity. You live in Florida? rain is killing me.

its not because of too much rain or whatever
its called blossom end rot and it happens because your tomato plants have been watered irregularly
you can mulch your plants to prevent water loss
use something like compost or rotting leaves
also you need to water them more regularly and feed them with a superphosphate fertilizer (high in P)

also if its not irregular watering then your plant has a calcium deficiency
so crush some eggshells and mix it into the soil and foliar feed with a dilute solution of water and epsom salts
hope that will be of some help

For now, go to your local supply store and get some Rot-Stop or similar spray to coat your tomatos with. I've used it and it works, just make sure that you wash the tomatos good after you harvest them (common sense). Call Home Depot.... they sell something similar because I was there today and saw a similar product. For next year, plant in dryer soild, lay off the nitrates, add phosphates (lime, bone meal, as stated earlier...eggshells in the soil), and don't plant too early.... good luck!

Blossom end rot starts because you water the tomatoes irregularly. Water them once a day and mulch the soil, as the other guy said.

Ventilation and lower humidity will help stop rot taking hold too.
