Default Bleu's 2009 Hydro Garden
Well, its not really a "garden" but I've got a few things going on. I invested in a growtent (GrowLab 60 from BGHydro) and I'm trying to add a second 5gal dwc this time around. (heres my last grow for those interested in taking a gander DWC Bucket Chili Pepper ) I also switched from hydroton to silica stone, just for the heck of it.

This time around I've got some herbs going and a Fatalli chilli pepper plant. I have sweet basil, lemon basil, and thyme. Unfortunately the cilantro, oregano, and rosemary did not sprout from the rockwool. I just recently put the rw cubes into the buckets with a light nute solution. Still using the GH Flora series for nutrients.

Any questions or comments are welcome. Thanks. Heres the photos.

Seedling closeups in order of appearance are Fatalli, Lemon Basil, Sweet Basil, and Thyme.

Temps are good I guess, usually low 70s. Light is a 2FT T5 fixture ~110w from HTG. This one http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct...roductID=51907

1 week update. The lemon basil is taking off like crazy. I almost fried my fatalli seedling, i opened the tent one day and the rw was all dried out and the seedling had turned brown, ive been having to top feed it a bit, at least until the roots drop some also raised the water level a bit so the silica stone will wick up a little. Heres the pics.

What's up bluebeard? I really enjoyed following your chili pepper grow journal so I am glad that I found this journal. How do you like that light you are using? I was thinking about getting it and using it as my clone and seedling light. I like the new setup, keep up the good work bro. +rep

tom__420, I do like this light. One of the bulbs burned out quite early in its life, HTG would have replaced it, but im lazy and i didnt feel like packaging up the old ones and shipping it back to them, i ended up just buying a new pair. It is kind of an odd bulb type, I don't think many places sell them.

These herbs are growing too quickly and the tiny net pots arent working out too well, (the rw cube is staying wet, even though the water level is really low, and they are getting kind of mouldy) anyway I think i might get rid of them since they are growing too fast and just keep the pepper plant. Pics soon.

can you not transfer them into soil stick them on a window or something. that way gives you space just for pepper and still have a stock of herb when needed sounds a shame too get rid of them. soil and window i say

I suppose I could give it a try....However the reason that I actually got into indoor gardening is due to my lack of access to sunlight, I get very little since my apt is surrounded by large trees, especially in the summer since they are full of leaves.

Anyway time for pics...first up, my lemon basil budshot. lol.

Roots, Bloody, Roots. (sepultura song The basils are filling out to be some pretty strong plants (i dont know if this is their nature or if the silica stone is helping) the weakest is the thyme as you can see it has a small root structure.

Theres an overall shot. The basils have been cut back several times already now.

Heres the fatalli pepper that really only started taking off in the past couple days, once i topped off the bucket and the root hit the water. Probably grown three pairs of new leaves just this week.

Ok did it, took out the herbs and put them outside. I put the lemon basil in a hempy bucket, and the sweet basil and thyme in some soil.

Heres the LB next to an avocado that hasent been fed in like 6 months....

what thyme is it?

sweet basil

and the fatalli, home alone. with new cover to hopefully prevent the algae growth happening on the silica stone.
