That's BS. Sorry. Any specic single plant can grow a root system that has few or a multitude of Roots.... depends upon how the Plant is granted needed food. Feed them well, and competion will cease to be an issue.

Tomatoes planted next to HOT Peppers is said to produce 'Semi-Hot Tomatoes. A Green Pine Needle placed through a Pot's Stalk, the weed will have a pine taste. You can add a taste, I believe. IE; Feed the Thanksgiving Turkey garlic, corn (bread), hot peppers...., see what happen. Thus far, Molessas is the best taste I want.

Some things go well near each other, like tomatoes and carrots planted near each other.

However, with marijuana, it is best to have it alone in the container. The speed at which cannabis can absorb nutrients can cause issues if it is sharing rootspace with other plants.

As stated above if you kept it fed it isn't an issue, however you should remember this - other plants can put out chemicals to retard competing plants root growth. It's not a good idea in general to have anything except pot in the container. Even multiple cannabis plants in the same pot can cause each other problems.

There is some research that indicates that offspring of a plant won't compete with each other nearly as much as they would with other plants of the same species but different progenitors. That might indicate that maybe marijuana plants either cloned and put int he same pot or sibling seeds raised in the same pot wouldn't compete with each other, enabling the potential for more than just a couple of plants in one pot.

Just DONT plant Mint next to any marijana the mint will completly take over and definatly compete for root space... Thats probably the best help I could give you...

Yes, mint will take over in a heartbeat. So will kudzu.

Plants do grow next to each other in the wild, but note that some plants have nothing growing around them - they either drained the soil of nutrients to a level only it could take or it produced chemicals to stop other plants from gernimating in that soil.

Walnut trees are a good example of a plant that produces such chemicals.

As an aside to that, you might be able to use walnut bark extract to keep other plants from growing in your pots with your bud. I know it affects germination but I'm not totally sure if it retards growth or not after say you get into vegging.
