Ok, since I've been procured by the Mrs. to get our christmas tree this year, i would like to begin research now on cultivating ,what a douglas Fir or something under HPS indoors for next year.. Just as a challange, yes i know i could plant it in the back yard, and thats still quite a possability. But for now i'd like to stick one off in the grow room on the veg side to see what will happen. Has anyone on here done this? What strain of tree would work well indoors like that at least for starting them out til spring? Just a few questions, i've got some time to prep

a tree! don't waste the electricity on a tree lol

Some parents like to plan activities thats fun for the whole family. So flower beds in the yard and planting a veggie garden is something hands on that builds a sense of self importance and accomplishment in children. The Christmas tree is something the kids can do and feel proud of next fall when it's in the living room. It's not a waste of electricity, well worth it here.

Well i certainly hope your not planning on cutting it for at least 5 - 10 years. Trees grow slow. Mine as well plant some outside.

Going with a strain from a local farm, 5 ft in 1 yr will transplant outdoors in 30 gallon tub in spring. They'll be taking cuttings after christmas, already reserved 5 of them.

i dont think it would be possible way to long to grow i would have to think if you plant now by next years it should be 3 to for 4 feet but not 100% sure but either way a x-mas tree is 20$ it will cost you so much more to grow it.

Price isn't a concern on the tree. Hell I made it out the door from the nursery for less than $25, got 2 hybrid pines and a Manicured rosemary that smells to die for. From my grow room to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS
