It could be that with the increase in sunlight each day that they will wait longer before they start producing veggies. If I'm correct, they should start producing when the days start becoming shorter (meaning less daylight due to winter).

Could small animals have run away with your seeds / veggies?

Last year I had gourds growing and the squirrels kept running off with them.

question: did you turn your soil from last year. re-using any soil from plants in the solanaceae family (not limiting to) Peppers,Tomatoes,Potatoes,Tobacco,Eggplant, should annually have added a soil amendment to, to help increase seed development (if you just plant by seed in dirt) root development and overall plant health..im not so sure its the 'global warming' doing this. but all problems with gardens are handled differently.. i hope this helps some.

Always a good idea to turn your soil before the new season, and if you have a compost pile this is the best time to add in some of that organic goodness! Your garden will love you for it. I would agree with Canna that if you didnt do anything with the soil from the previous garden that you probably have your issue isolated there.

Probably a little late in the year to salvage anything...
