//Damnit.. This should be in Toke n Talk, not Inspired Art.. My bad, I got my forums in a twist.. Could some kind soul of a mod do the honours and put the post in it's rightful place.//

Hey all,

I've been on this board only a couple months now, and I'm loving it, awesome community, good laughs all round, massive help whenever you need it... Altogether I'm glad I picked RIU as my home.

It seems like the general Stoner obsessions are pretty well covered.. I can talk about Dali and doodles in Inspired Art... I can rant about my latest PS3 title in Game It Up... I can moan about how dreary The Stereophonics are in Music... I can even ramble about my stoned thoughts on parallel universes and infinitie universe theories in here....

But what about my movies/tv? Movies take up about 75% of my stoned time. I'm constantly on the hunt for something new, something awesome I've missed, a hidden gem or an OTT blockbuster that's passed me by.

I'm not asking for the mods to put in a forum just for me, that'd be lonely in there... I'm just wondering if anyone else would frequent such a home for the moviemad stoners... if I'm on my own, then I guess I'll just post the like in TnT, and make the most of those bloodshot eyes and addled brains that lurk between the posts.

Anyways, just a thought. x

"If the cap fits, let him wear it"... sounds simple enough, but it goes deeper.

That's what's on my mind at this moment..

Hi out there - I live off the grid on a sub-tropical island, making and testing hand-built ceramic pipes. I'm pretty happy with the quality of my design, now, so I wanna share my stuff with those of interested minds.

I've just done my first series of woodfired pieces, and I've got 20 available for purchase for the next 14 days at pozible.com/islandpipegirl

I'd love to hear any feedback.

Cheers,

Help With a Book for my Son? Seeking speaker of Kiddy-ese.

I'm in the process of writing a book for my son. He is 5 months old right now, so I know he won't understand any of this until years down the road, but I figured I'd write it while I was feeling inspired. I'm just disappointed with a lot of the children's books that are out right now and decided to write my own.

I'm working on a big of an adaptation of Voltaire. I'm sure his mom will roll her eyes at me, but I think it is a worthwhile endeavor. I've childed it as much as I could in one sitting, but I'm hoping someone that is more talented than I could help me child it a bit more. Here is the bit I've got so far:

The tiny man, a follower of Saint Thomas Aquinas, knew the secret. He looked the two giant alien visitors in their eyes and said, “These worlds, their suns and their stars were created for the use and enjoyment of mankind.” Upon hearing this, the two visitors fell to the ground laughing. According to Homer, this laughter is shared with the gods.

Criticism is welcomed as well, but please try to be helpful. Thank you.

Also, does anyone have any other suggestions of books etc that should be adapted for children?

Moving On

The door has been opened, I just can’t seem to walk through it. The window I was using, is now closed and boarded up, yet I still walk to it for...

The door has been opened, I just can’t seem to walk through it. The window I was using, is now closed and boarded up, yet I still walk to it for light and expect clear vision into the outside world…

It isn’t fear that keeps me from stepping across this precipice, it is humble cautiousness… Yet, humble cautiousness, even with ALL her good intentions, is still just another excuse to do nothing. Worse than being trapped in fear, is the stagnant feeling in body, mind and soul, that comes from the comfort of the absolute “safety” of doing nothing. Never seek solitude here little girl…

I weigh my options, something I do FAR too frequently, I weigh instead of act. One step I often miss after I balance things on my scale of justice, is to act on things and just quit fucking with the results! I have already seen it, and seen it clearly for what it is, I know the truth in my heart already, it is simply waiting for my brain to catch up... GET THERE FASTER!!! J

Moving on takes courage, and strength… It is never easy to let go of anyone or anything you truly love, but moving on requires this for a new viewpoint. Death comes to the old way of thinking just like Winter’s frost freezes the ground solid, and then you bring life to it by moving forward, not back. You breathe life into yourself through the death of old, stagnant thought patterns that will no longer help you to grow and thrive in this reality...

When we truly discover that we create our own realities, it becomes easier to let go and simply observe for how things will pan out, doing as I am asked to do, only one step at a time, it is as easy as placing one foot in front of, not behind, the other!

The key is acceptance; acceptance in no longer denying the truth’s ugly existence, acceptance that it simply is what it is, I did nothing to cause these painful scars I can’t seem to heal from, I can’t deny them their existence any longer… Accepting that death must come to my criminal thoughts, lest they take my mind captive once again, acceptance. Acceptance doesn’t make it right, and it doesn’t make it go away, however it does and will bring new life every time I allow it. As a grown adult I so often sit curled up in a ball spiritually and physically over a circumstance, rocking myself gently for comfort, but I am weary of my own comfort, it doesn’t help anymore, so I get up and accept the circumstance, and then I step forward…
I don’t see the bridge ahead over my troubled waters, I don’t see a path and often it is dark, cold and dreary, yet I continue to step forward in faith with each placement of my foot, that I will find my way out of this darkness and find what I truly seek which is truth, and movement is the only source that brings life and healing to stagnant patterns.
So move on, become a warrior and slay the old thought patterns that bring death to your life now. Stop cowering in the corner waiting for someone else to do it, get up, MOVE, do it yourself, you will be SO much happier! J
