hey ladies and gents of RIU,

please move to appropriate section if neccessary but i posted this here as it is something i havent ever come across. im hoping for answers from growers who consider themselves advanced and can give detailed answers and provide experienced opinions, not answers like "well my mates cousins, neighbour has this dardy grow and he....." you get my point.

i can find plenty of charts and diagrams that thoroughly explain nutrient lock outs at specific ph ranges. what im looking for is some knowlage on NUTRIENT LOCK-OUT TEMPERATURES for a reservoir.

please help if you can, it would be highly appreciated.
cheers from down under (wow, if your aussie, say that outloud, sounds so gay haha) im rambling.

Hi guys and girls, just a quick question to help me keep my posts in the correct areas: How would you define 'advanced growing'?

To me, there was a point where using anything but soil seemed highly advanced. Now hydro is everyday stuff to me. So my question is, where do you feel the line is? And what 'requirements' do you feel need filling in order to think of yourself as an 'advanced grower'?

Still testing the waters and exploring the site so I thank you for your time if you feel like leaving an answer.

Sorry about the title, it's a hard question to ask in a few words.

What I am asking is..... Is pruning and its negative effects, relative to area pruned. If the main cola is stripped of all fan leaves, will it effect the whole plant or just the main cola. All other foliage is left (fairly big plant). The reason I ask is that the main cola is often carrying the biggest leaves and covers other bud sites.

hey guys... ive been growing indoors for 6 years now. i tried everything except co2.
does co2 really make that much of a difference if you have good air exchange in the room?
do people stop the exhaust fan when using co2? anyway... i was thinking. my friend is using this liquid co2 formula that comes in a plastic bottle. he pours it in his fish aquarium. it helps his plants grow. it eliminates the need for pumping co2 in the water.
do you think this liquid co2 crap will be good for a foliar spray? :)

Hey All,

I've been thinking a lot about room temps in my flowering room. What I have noticed is the following:

I've got 3 thermometers permanently monitoring several areas, one is the aircon's thermostat, then a wall-mounted thermometer and hygrometer, then another permanently monitoring my canopy. I've got a passive inlet on the far side of the room, opposite to the aircon, and an exhaust fan with intake right above my gullwing type reflectors.

So, to get a canopy temp of 25 C, the aircon with it's intake on the ground reads as low as 19 and the wall-mounted one will read 22. Here's the interesting bit, if I suspend one from the ceiling, it'll read a degree or two LOWER than the wall-mounted one.

Any of you got some pointers as to some reading I can do to help me understand what is happening in there? I've got all my hottest air in the middle, and a cold layer above and below. Or is this merely the radiation off the lamps? I did shade the thermometer, it's got a aluminium backing I faced up too.

Any and all insights massively appreciated, come summer down here things like this become the main problem, temps...

Does anyone here use a phased flowering period?

Hey guys, I'm currently growing a s.a.g.e and it has a reported 80 day flowering time. I am going to attempt a phased flowering time to try and shave...

Hey guys, I'm currently growing a s.a.g.e and it has a reported 80 day flowering time. I am going to attempt a phased flowering time to try and shave 10 days or so off it.

Phased meaning, first 2 weeks of flowering 12/12, then every week after reduce the light cycle by half an hour. Just like nature.

I've read this is a good tactic to speed the flowering process up and actually helps to produce a better cannabinoid profile/ more resin. The flip side is the possible loss in some yield, which I am willing to accept in trade for a cheaper power bill, less worry about the hps being on and a quicker flowering time.

Just wondering has anyone here used it or currently use it? I'm going to do it anyway as an experiment, but it would be nice if anyone had any positives or negatives they want to share about it...

I LST'd my plant a little late, wondering if the other stems will grow up to nearly as much as the main cola at this stage, or is that the limit? They're at least 3 or 4 weeks into flowering so I don't notice much upward growth. When I bent the main cola over the other stems on the side began to grow somewhat. Its been a few days since I did it...

I'm having a problem with my grow room at night my room is reaching 1600 PPM's at night without my co2 tanks in the room I was wondering if anybody else has had a similar problem ? Maybe due to organic soil resperation?Through out the day it goes down to 1000 ppms. But as soon as lights go out the ppms start climbing.

Please help ...

All my ladys are healthy.. except for a couple of my og's that arestarting to yellow. Could this be do to the amounts of co2 stoping the production of robusto?

Again any help would be appreciated.

I am really hooked on the idea of main lining, from the main lining thread. I've read most of it through so I know my way around the technique.
However there is still something bugging me about it and I know many people have asked the same thing:

"Why not just top at the 1st or 2nd node instead of waiting until its 7 nodes high, and having to take a clone, or wasting plant matter if you don't want one"

The respone is usually along the lines of "you need to wait for an established root system, too much stress etc.."

But has anyone actually TRIED topping really early? I still think that the recovery time for an early top couldent be more than the time it takes to grow a plant twice the size and hack half of it down. Or would it permanently stress the plant making it "premature", or hermie out?

I am thinking of topping at the first node (yep after the first serrated leaves), maybe the energy will be directed into producing root mass while the plant recovers.
