And also it was 85 degrees when i bought it and sunny. Now for the past few days it dropped to like 55-60 degrees and really cloudy will the plant be ok? I brought it inside cause of the cold

Hi Peeps! Well, here's my story. I have a flood/drain hydroton system in the windowsill, mainly for peppers but I also have some basil, mint, lettuce and cilantro in there, grown from seed.
3 days ago, I bought some scallions for eating and left about 1cm+roots on the bottom and put them in the system. Already they are growing! At this rate I reckon I'll be ready to cut again within a month. Also, the small root system means I can pack them in tight and they use little room.
I'm fairly sure this can be done in soil too.

Hi all. i started looking at more natural stuff to use for my coffee and teas and I came across Stevia seeds. I was wondering if anyone has grown it and know how to grow it indoors. Growing out door isn't the route that I want to go because I want to grow it faster and have more control over things.

Is there a method to make Stevia syrups with out using liquor?

I have a bunch of seeds sprouted . Cherry, beef, hybrid , cilantro , peas etc etc. Now I've been able to maintain moisture pretty well, by just gauging the color of the soil. Everything is in FFOF even if its in the ground(made an earth pot if you will).

I have two cherry tomato plants that are about 1 month and a 1/2. Same package. Both starts from seed in Dixie cups.

One in the ground (transplanted twice actually) and one in a 5 gallon pot(just transplant 2 days ago)

The one in the pot was looking wilted and frail prior to transplant. (I did use left over nutes that i diluted for my GDP, she's looking wilty too ). That was the reason I actually decided to move to a bigger pot. Now my question .. Does it look like I drowned it ?

The healthy one is in the ground. If you need more info let me know

The Berkeley Method is a process I discovered last year and it worked just as it was supposed to. With this process, you can produce compost within 2-3 weeks! I stacked old tires in my green house and filled them with this compost in order to give it more heat in the winter. It could see "steam" coming from the piles as I turned them within about 4 days. The compost in the tires was a little difficult to turn properly. Maybe a composting barrel would be better for next time. Here is another good link regarding the Berkeley Method from UC Davis. This was great information and I wanted to spread it around a bit.

Also, I found this video online: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emW0WN3lXa0

Hi all.

Been browsing this site often within google searches so thought i would sign up for a little help possibily with my chilli plants.

I live in the east midlands in the uk so i hope there are uk members here also.

Due to the uk weather im in and out with my plants on a daily basis. Weve had a couple of days of real nice weather last week but now in may it is pouring down and the odd bit of snow in the country so frost is still an issue!! Damn the english weather!

Currently my chillis seem ok.... Jalapeno, Cayenne, Super fresno, Red habanero and also a bell pepper and tomato plant for a nice relish hopefully when all is ripe.

But they are not getting what i feel they need from the daylight as they are windowsill bound most of the time. Got a real nice position for the windowsill but the sun does drift from front to back of my house.

Back of house during sunrise till midday then about midday til sunset the sun is across the front windows.

Ive been looking at T5 lighting possibly to bring them on whilst the uk weather picks up a little.

I have a 40ft out-house with an 8inch thick concrete roof, covered in bitchumen and felt.

I do have a concern about being caught on the helicopter run but as im not growing anything illegal i know i shouldnt worry. That said it would be quite embarassing being busted and very very in-convenient for myself and daughter.

So putting this lighting in my out-house.... a good idea? bad idea?
Or is the T5 not going to give enough output for me to worry about or an helicopter to detect?

Like i say my concern isnt what im growing but more so the inconvenience should such an occurance happen.

I was looking at possibly a 4 x 4ft T5 set up. Would i be correct in thinking that 4ft T5 are 54w?

I have solar panels connected to my house on both sides of the roof of my house generating at tops just over 3kilowatts but averaging around 2.5k for the most part of the day and around 1.6k early morning/late evening as only 1 set of panel are collecting direct light. So with that, power through the day isnt an issue financially.

This is my 1st year growing chilli plants and has really got me engaged and a little fanatical about various aspects.

Ive also been reading about colour temps on certain T5 bulbs and recognise the need for 6500k bulbs for the veg stage then dropping down to a 2700k bulb for the more red spectrum during flowering, if needed for later in the year if i want to produce late into the uk seasons.

Anyone care to ease my worries? educate me slightly?

For the record, i do enjoy a little herb myself so i may be swayed towards trying my amatuer hand at that at sometime in the future but it certainly isnt something im considering now or near future but always nice to know where i stand.

Thanks :eyesmoke:
