Hello bud community, this is my first major dilemma and i would like insight on a good recipe for green cannabis tea. I picked up an eighth of some dank Chocolate Thai and want to make a nice brew of tea. How many grams would it take to get lifted? I have a pretty mild tolerance to bud, but haven't tried to make tea a lot. I wanna make sure i know what I'm doing beforehand. If anyone could post a recipe, steps, and any other information pertaining to "green tea", it'd be very appreciated. Stay lit. bongsmilie

.

I've read that there's a fair bit of butter left in the marijuana ball after hand squeezing and a press bowl would help get most of it out. I bought a 4" garlic press to see how it would work and it collapsed the first time I used it. The least expensive Press Bowl I could find online was $90 usd so I thought of how I could make one quick and cheap.

I salvaged the perforated bowl and pressing pad from the Garlic Press and picked up a C clamp at Canadian Tire. The metal pot is a dipper with a thick steel bottom and the cup is from a metal thermos to add strength to the pressing pad. I wrap the dreg ball in 3 layers of cheese cloth to keep the dreg flour from pressing through the holes in the garlic cup. I'm looking for a large metal coffee filter to line the garlic press cup, to keep the tiny sediment out of the butter. I've got to find an inflexible metal disk to replace the cup for pressing pad reinforcment, the C clamp bends it in the center.

.

.

I started with about 165 ml of butter and got about 25 ml from the Press Bowl - about 15% of the total used and almost 25% more butter than if I hadn't pressed. And hopefully the most potent butter. 75 ml butter from the 1 gallon bubble bag; and 30 ml from the metal strainer. In reverse order from the extraction order. The next picture shows the 3 grades of butter, each hardened in a 250 ml measuring cup; below is each of the tools used to extract the respective butter disk above.

. . . Drip drain, hand squeeze, bowl press . . .

This time I was making Lava Butter with 2 cups of Volcano dregs (coffee grinder-ed to just under 1 cup of flour) and about 165 ml of butter - so I could make two trays of brownies with 1/3 cup of Lava Butter per tray.

It's important to crank the handle as hard as you can (of course), then put the whole press in the oven at ~80 degrees C (buy a C clamp without baked on enamel if possible, no plastic or paint in the oven). The butter has probably started to harden by this time, the heat will liquefy it again. It takes time for the butter in the middle of the ball to make its way through, you'll probably re-tighten a half dozen times before you have most of the butter out.

The large garlic press was $10 at the grocery store (or walmart); the C clamp was $15 at the hardware store. Get a large C clamp, you need a big handle to crank some press on. If you can fashion a larger handle you'll be able to crank harder and if you have a vise you can make the clamp stationary while you tighten.

Can anyone come up with a better design, a way to attach a larger handle; a way to vise the clamp so it's stationary; how to recover a larger percentage of used butter; where to buy silk screen in small towns (craft shops don't carry it); etc. I lost a lot of butter in my bubble bag, I'd like to just use silk screen so the butter will rinse off in hot water. I have to scrape the pots and measuring cups better as well, a lot of butter to be recovered. The other thing I have to watch is the temperature and length of simmer, I've been reading through this forum to improve my cooking.

Howdy!

Made up some cannabutter and cookies yesterday...thought I'd share what I learned.

For the cannabutter: Used all the trimmings and immature/semi-immature buds from the last
AK48. I don't really know how much it was...maybe an ounce of "material"

I didn't use fan leaves without visible tricomes. Didn't use large stems.

So I get a few cups of water to a rolling boil then reduce heat to "2" and add a bit over 1/2 cup of butter.
(i need 1/2 cup of butter for my recipe...and there IS waste which is why I suggest you use a bit more than you need)

When the butter is melted and stirred in I further reduce the heat to "1" and then add the marijuana material.
I simmer all of this for one hour...stirring occasionally.

Turn off heat. Let sit for 10 minutes to cool down a bit. I have a bowl or a large container ready...I have cheesecloth
over the opening. I attach the cheesecloth with rubber bands to the opening. Leave a large depression in the middle
of the cheesecloth that is over the opening. That "valley" will collect the plant material when you pour everything
through the cheesecloth into the container. After the liquid has been poured in...

It is important that you squeeze the living bajeebus out of the plant material in the cheesecloth. You want to squeeze
every last drop of butter/water into your container.

Let your container chill in the refrigerator. Right away you'll notice a greenish layer on top of the water...and brown water
beneath this layer. (If you used a transparent container like I did that is) This will have to chill a good 2 - 3 hours. The butter
will harden on top. Then it's a matter of scooping the butter off and gently pouring the crap water down the sink. Do it gently
as you do not want to lose even little bits of butter if you can help it.

Now you have 1/2 cup of strong canna-butter! (Make it strong...as it's not the main ingredient in most "normal" recipes)

Here is the "normal" recipe that I followed...substituting cannabutter for reg. butter.

Peanut Butter and Honey Cookies

1 cup creamy peanut butter (i used chunky)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened (cannabutter!)
2/3 cup honey
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat oven to 345. Cream together butter, sugar and honey. Stir in the eggs and peanut butter. Sift the flour and baking powder
and then blend into peanut butter mixture. Shape into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Give them the
criss cross pattern with a fork and then bake for 12 minutes or until lightly golden brown. When fresh out the oven...push a
chocolate chip into the center top of each cookie. Cool.

They taste a bit earthy...but not unpleasant. The method for making cannabutter that I decribed takes out/filters out the
really harsh tasting crap.

This recipe makes about thirty 1/2 dollar sized cookies. I ate two to test.

Took 1.5 hours...then I started feeling something. I noticed it when I stood up to get something to drink. 2 hours in...I was WASTED.
As in kinda TOO high. That lasted a solid 2 more hours before I hit a munchie frenzy and then a crash. ;P

Enjoy!

A couple of nights ago I made some pot brownies. I used 7 grams for a 1/2 cup of oil. I heated the oil over the stove for about an hour or two. The aroma was very intense. I accidently burned the weed but I made the brownies anyway. I cut ten equal squares and ate two. As I said in my other thread. I was BLOWN out my mind. We all thought it was too intense so we decided to use 7 grams in a cup and half of oil. This time instead of cooking over a stove we poured the contents into a mason jar and placed it on a candle warmer. The oil was really warm but never hot. It had an aroma but nothing like the other night. We had to open all the windows and doors because of the smell. The oil sat on the warmer over night. Tonight we decided to make a batch of brownies. They damn sure tasted better but I ended up eating 4 and didn't feel a thing. I'm trying to figure out if we didn't use enough weed or if I needed to heat the oil higher to properly infuse the thc. Thoughts?

I've been smoking for probably 12 years now. I've never had enough herb on me to attempt to make brownies. What if they don't turn out good? Waste of my weed and my money. Over the past year or so, using this website, I've managed to cultivate my own so I have "extra" to spare. I recommend everyone cultivate a plant or two for their own supply. Much cheaper and safer but neways, My buddy and I got the idea to make some brownies for the first time. I didn't know how much to use but we figured a quarter O would be fine. Boy were we wrong!!! I broke up the bud and poured a half of cup of cooking oil into a sauce pan. Simmered and stirred frequently on low for about an hour. Strained the oil through a coffee filter and poured the "enhanced" oil into the dry batter. Mixed ingrediants and poured into baking pan. They were finished around 5pm. I cut the pan into ten equal squares. Myself, my wife, my best friend, and his wife all ate one whole brownie. They tasted like shit cause I burned the weed but I won't make that mistake next time. Ten minutes later none of us were feeling anything so we split up 3 more among us. The girls kept complaining that it was a waste of time and a waste of weed because it didn't hit them instantly like smoking. 6pm rolls around and every one starts saying I can feel it now. After 6pm everything became sort of a blur. We were all BLOWN out of our gords. I've never been so high in my life. My buddys wife lies down in the middle of the kitchen floor and starts ripping her clothes off. My wife is about to cry because the room won't stop spinning. My buddy was laughing so hard he's barfing all over the place. I'm trying to keep my cool and watch over everyone but I was pretty out of it myself. I've never been "drunk" on weed but I was last night. All my wife and my buddies wife can do is lay quietly in the middle of the floor and tell us how much the room is spinning or the "pretty" colors they see. My wife and I head back home at 9pm still freaking BLAZZED. She is still tripping so bad I can barely get her in the door. From 9 to 11 all she can say is I wish it would go away.....over and over again....She also kept apologizing for underestimating the brownies. I'm laughing but feel terrible at the same time. She passes out at around mid night. I'm still high as a damn kite....I call my friend...he's still blazed. I have to literally make myself go to sleep. We all woke up around 7 this morning and ALL of us were still high. I managed to go to work today but everyone else called in sick. It wasn't until I got some food in my belly at around noon today that I felt normal. My wife and my friends wife took a vow to never smoke or eat magical brownies again. I haven't smoked anything today cause my head is so damn cloudy. I am amazed as to how powerful those brownies were compared to smoking. It put me on an entirely new level. After reading so many recipes I can't see why in the world you need even close to an ounce for a batch of brownies. I did use fairly mid to high grade bud and not leaves or stems. I am working on another batch of oil using a different method and less bud. I'd like to catch a good buzz for a couple of hours but I don't want to give anyone a brownie thats going to completely screw them up for 8 or more hours. I swear we were all stoned for a good 6 to 8 hours. I am anxious to make the next batch....I just hope it doesn't make everyone bonkers. Powerful stuff......Thought I would share the story.
