So the folks in HS grow.
Here's mine.
I currently flower in a 2x2x4 box with a 400W HPS in a cool tube. The grow exhausts into the tube and everything gets sucked out by a 6" booster fan that claims to be rated for 400cfm. Temps stay nice and stable with plants raised up 15" so that the top of the canopy is about 6" away from the light.
I flower 4 plants at a time with this setup.
Currently I have a Blue Dream on day 26, here are some shots of her starting with when she was transplanted and put into flower.

The other plants in those pics turned out to be males :(
Here she is after ten days. I think I should have topped the mains to get the branches to develop faster. Next time.

This is day 14 I think

Day 20

Today

This is another Blue Dream that's on day 13 today
Here she is still in veg. The seedlings with her are two Midas from Rare Dankness and a Royal Dog which is a cross of a Royal Kush and a Gooddog that a friend made.

Transplanted into a #3 nursery pot and put into flower and trained

After 2 days

After 7

And Today

Joining the Blue Dreams are the Midas that were pictured as seedlings with the Blue Dream in veg. I use an 18 gal storage tote with a PC fan and 2 26W CFLs for keeping moms and starting seeds and rooting clones and early veg.
Here they are around 10 days old. I'm not sure what the date was and it's just saying I uploaded them two weeks ago which could be between 14 and 20 days.

Here they are 6 days ago with the Royal Dog. They got put into big pots and into flower

After 2 days

And today

The Royal Dog looked like this yesterday but I defoliated her and she looks like this now

I think that's everything, I had a post all written up but it got eaten.

Well hello people, it is time I start and actually finish a grow journal. Just finished upgrading my new grow room so now is as good a time as any to start.

Here is how it is - Grow room is 2700mm long x 1100mm wide and 2200mm high.
Using mostly House&Garden nutrient with a couple other products in the mix as well.
2 x Moby dicks( GreenHouse seeds)
1 x Karragullen - Unknown strain but had for a long time.
Each plant is sitting in a 50 litre pot with a grate spacer, potsok, a good layer of hydroton and then filled with pertlite and watered through a 12 inch water ring.
Each plant has it's own 60 litre res with airstone, water circulation pump and a 1200L/hour water pump which recirculates back to the res.
1 x Gravita Pro 1000 placed smack bang in the middle in a fixed position and 2 x Lucagrow 400w HPS covering the 2 ends.
1 x 300mm fan and a 150mm fan to exhaust and 2 x light proof air vents for passive air intake.
3 x wall fans and 1 fan and the ground for air movement.

Yet to build a scrog table and i will get a dehumidifier a bit closer to flowering time.

Some pics of the room and it is day 1 for the three babies!

I have decided to document my grow. I hope to share in my experience, but there's always so much more to learn so please feel free to offer advice!

The Grow Room:

The room dimensions are L-66" x W-56" x H-80"

Hardware:

Lighting - Sunblaster 200w for Veg and Hilux 1000w HPS for flower

Veg Light

Flower light - Air in Cool tube is pushed with a 6" 480 CFM inline fan

Veg light connection. One rope can easily be adjusted to move the light up and down as the canopy grows. Second rope is set to max length and is a fail safe to keep the light from falling on the canopy causing damage to the plants. Veg light is removed during flower period.

Carbon Filter - Air is sucked through the filter with a 4" 240 CFM inline fan

The Grow System:

6 RDWC buckets. 2 return lines per bucket and 1 air stone

The plumbing

Simple reservoir made from rubbermaid container

Return pump and an airstone inside

Air pumps. Each pump supplies air to 2x buckets. The reservoir has it's own air pump. The towels help suppress the vibration noise.

Alright that's the setup. Now to give you guys some eye candy! Here are some pictures I have taken of some of my previous grows.

Thought I may as well start a journal on my grows, as I am currently germinating them and this would be a good question answer thread iswell. So atm I'v got these 2 strains in the germination process, one showed taproot so I planted into a solo pot, and the other is still in its tissue :) . Soil is John Innes No:2 with lots of perlite and vermiculite added in, and then a small layer of vermiculite over the top. Going to see how this goes.

I am ordering some lights, 85w 6500k cfl and a 20w 2700k cfl. Hopefully its enough for these 2 plants. They will be transplanted outside anyway at about 3 weeks old. Should I keep lights 24/0 or will they begin to flower when moved outside? Anyway, got these in a small box with foil on sides, very makeshift, going to be like this until I have the time to order some mylar sheeting off ebay. Going to update as I go along, hopefully till flower and smoke ;)

Thanks for reading.

Hi fellow RIU members,

After seeing everyone else's wonderful grows and finally being able to convince the wife to let me grow. I have decided to share with you my first experience growing, so lets grow!

Materials for grow room/tent (see picture one for light raised and tent set up)

2.6x2.6x5ft Grow tent

190 cfm inline fan

190 cfm carbon filter

DIY CFL light hood

2fx8inch Galvanized steel dryer pipe - spray painted white on reflector side with heat resistant spray

plastic zip ties

2x power strips

5x light plug in adapters with 5 y splitters = 10 light sockets

4x clip lamp with reflectors (can put y splits) for 4 - 8 sockets additional for side lighting

2x fans (1 oscillating)

Seedling/Veg phase = 7x 6500k 23 watt CFLs @ 70 lumens per watt & 3x 2700kl 23 watt CFL @ 72 lumens per watt

I started with 2 seeds, Afgan Kush Ryder and Critical +2.0 auto, and germinated in moist paper towels in my upstairs closet which I had heated to 80 degrees. I saw the seeds crack in about 60 hours and planted in soil. seeds were planted in 3 gallon smart pots with 70% FF Ocean Forest & 30% Perlite. Of the 2 seeds only one sprouted. The seedling was moved to the tent where it was kept under half the lights on. Temps ranged from 68 degrees to 75 degrees. Soil was misted 3 times a day for the first 3 days and then watered 16 oz of ph'd water on the 5th day from sprout.

About 7 days later i sifted in the soil in the 2nd pot and found the un-sprouted seed. It never actually cracked... so I got another seed and tried the germinate in shot glass method as an experiment. 24 hours later i broke the surface tension of the water and the seed sank, after closer examination the seed clearly cracked. I moved to moist paper towel for 24 hours before planting, into 2nd smart pot. I am now a fan of the shot glass method and next time I will be planting right into soil instead of waiting 24 hours for the tail to grow more.

So now I had 2 AKRs, 1 germinating in my closet upstairs and the other vegging in the tent. The seed sprouted with a helmet on the 16th, and has since been under a 23 wat cfl in my closet getting misted, I will be moving to tent tomorrow morning. As for the first AKR, she seems to be doing pretty decent in my opinion. I turned on the other 5 CFLs at about day 8 from sprout. Now is this day 13 from sprout for AKR 1 (I'm called her Aliyah) she is short and bushy!! I hope this means I have been keeping the lights close enough to reduce stretching. She has dark green leaves and the nodes and stem are a nice lighter green, which from my understanding means she is healthy. I was planning on starting to feed her soon (next Fri/Sat) at quarter strength, it is probably a little late but i'm too scared of killing her lol.

AKR 2 (named Zhara); is on day 3 with 2 small leaves, I plan to be a little more experimental with her. Feed earlier, maybe train a little.

Either way I posted some pics of the set up, 3 shots of Aliyah, and one with lights lowered. Let me know your thoughts, I am open to feedback as well! Thanks and enjoy.

Hey Roll It Up people

I started a small auto CFL grow 4 weeks ago but have had no PC at the moment to start a grow diary but have taken picture and am using a friends PC to start one on.
The grow started really well but in the last week i have had some problems and some input from some experienced growers
would be much appreciated. I will give u guys a run down of the grow.

I am growing 4 plants: 2 Afghan Kush Ryder from World of seeds
2 Critical Jack Herer from Delicious seeds

Both Autoflower strains planted in 10L pots using Bio-Buzz Light Mix
and Bio-Buzz nutrients Grow and Bloom.

My Grow set up is in a closest 300w Dual Spectrum CFL with two extra 26w CFLs for veg stage and 2 65w CFL for flowering.
I have a small fan to get the air going around.
I have been LSTing because I want to increase the yield in my space
These first pictures are at one week and 10 days

I know it's late but, we just had our last freeze here. Plus I found this perfect bird nest to grow in.

I've been tending some bagbeans for two weeks in a Perlite, Vermiculite, and EWC mix. I've selected one to go to the site tomorrow. It's got the third leaf set just popping out.

Location: On a ridge past a river bottom in a forest. Latitude ~29°
Medium: I've buried and camouflaged a 5 gallon bucket with 3 parts Compost*, 1 part Vermiculite, 1 part Perlite, and 1 part EWC.
Watering: I only have a half gallon container with which to water inexplicably so, I'll make daily trips. Some Compost Teas will be made. Probably Nettle.
Bugs/Critters: Mulch top lightly coated in Diatimacious Earth and pissing EVERYWHERE around it.

* The compost is composed of Donkey/Goat/Sheep muck (manure matted in hay), Chicken/Duck muck, tons of vegetables and cracked eggs from the farm and, composted food. It's fast cook (150 + degrees) and this stuff is dirty diamonds.

Wish a rookie luck.

Space: 21.75"x30"x48"
Light: Area 51 SGS-160 LED
Strain: Ministry of Cannabis White Widow (feminized)
Medium: Roots Organic Coco Coir + Black Gold perlite (20-30%)
Pots: Superoots 1L, 3L and 7.5L Airpots
Nutes: Canna Coco A+B, Rhizo, Boost, PK13/14, Cannazym, General Organics CaMg+, SaferGro PH down, and House and Garden Drip Clean.
Location: in a medical state, legal within state guidelines. Besides that, it's basically a closet, but about as big as an upright dresser.
Power: Currently under 210W pulled from the plug.

This is my first medical grow. Guerrilla grows have been unsuccessful, and I don't own property for outdoor. All my acquaintances use HID, and while effective, not appropriate for my use.

SGS-160: ~120w Veg (4000K whites), ~155w Bloom (Whites + Red), all CREE diodes. Current light schedule is 18:6, 18" from "canopy".
In case you missed it, here's some reading material: http://www.rollitup.org/led-other-li...-warranty.html

Pretty much everything except the light is DIY. I got in on the last day of introductory pricing, and total have less than a grand into this entire setup. I didn't exactly count my pennies, and in a way it's still incomplete. Incomplete because I need to replace the current scrubber/exhaust fan because it is too loud. I thought it was quiet enough, but it's just too loud. I will try a couple different things to see how much duct flow has an effect on fan noise. The interior walls are non-magnetic whiteboard, pretty reflective, but super easy to clean. With just the whites on and the door open, it's hard to look at, there's a lot of light bouncing around that box.

I was planning on mainlining, or at least one of the two. I had planned to scrog, but with the design of this box, it would make feeding/watering annoying. The door is ~20"x34", so pulling them out would be a PITA.

I appreciate constructive criticism, you may post here, if it gets out of hand I'll just get the BS removed.

Note: If you use an Apollo 9 timer, make sure you follow the directions to ACTIVATE the timer... I had issues for a couple days.

I soaked in a paper towel (72-80F) for 24hrs, planted not quite a cm under, and I'm calling "Day 1" May 15, which is when I first saw green.

Feed schedule has been basically every other day. 60-80ppm CaMg, <100ppm A, <100ppm B, ~100-120ppm Rhizo. My water is 120-160ppm, I'm working on that. pH feed: 5.4-5.7, ppm feed: 350-400 (incl tap)
For those who need to mix micro nutes, or any small amount of nutrients: Go to Walgreens, syringes are <$.50/ea and you don't need the needle. I can dial in PPM to within 10ppm of desired in <1L container.

Now that I got the details out of the way, let me introduce you to Wendy and Wilma. Wendy was the runt out of the gate, Wilma stood up first. Wendy took the lead quickly by firming up her stalk and shedding her seed shell first. Both Wendy and Wilma sprouted higher out of the medium than I expected, and have been a healthy green so far.

(sorry, I still can't find my charger for my real camera, i4s will have to do)

Day 1:

Wendy:

Wilma:

Day 4:

Wendy:

Wilma:

Not anything to brag about yet, but I'm learning and it's only day 4 dammit.

I'm having temp issues, things will change. I can handle 82-86F, but it can hit 90F, and that's no bueno. I have AC in the room, but that light adds more heat than I expected. Exhaust fan is supposedly 100cfm, add the restrictions, and it should still be exchanging the 3x/min, and apparently that's not enough. The room it's in has AC, but the peak of temps is during the middle of the night, not midday.

Started 5 assorted seeds on Feb 1st... 3 in dirt/coffee cups and two 2L hempy pop bottles, of which one died.

This journal is about the runt of the litter....it was the smallest from day one, short and stocky with broad leaves.

It was over watered once and really started to fall behind the others, so eventually when space became an issue, it was evicted from the grow room to survive with limited winter sunshine.

Awhile latter I purchased a 600 watt HPS for a flower room, so some space available for it to come into the new room, which put her on the fast track.

As luck would have it all the others were males, thus the little runt had lots of prime space.
