well i have started my very first grow and am very excited and anxious. the last two months have been a real learning curve. being so new i would hate to mess things up with my new babies so i,ve started this thread hoping to get some help and tips. for example ive read a lot on temps and thought the best temp during light hours was 72 and you dont want to get above 77, so i put my light a little far away but then read 77 is fine and 80 is ok to? what is the hottest your grow room should ever get, i'm talking about the max, like when your plants would die. Whats the most ideal temp? Thats just a start. here are some pictures. about two weeks into veg. Thank you to all who help my first grow in any way. 11/15/09 one and a half weed old biggest train. second pic is same plant 4 days later. next one is about 4 days behind the others. The next 2 are a random bag seed. this plant grew the fastest and had the hardest transplant. it grows leafs that were curled at the tips. hows it look to you all? sure does stink so i'm hoping to keep it. the last is my 100% legal medical garden.

I've yet to post a journal, so...here it goes.

The furthest along (northern lights-pic1/2) spent a couple weeks under my old 150w, so its size is less comparable to the new plants.

The tall tall girl is my jack frost, shes about 2 or 3 weeks in.

and the short squaty one is my twilight

All OMRI organic, fed with Biobizz line.

Ok I am starting a winter grow. I am doing it in a grow tent 3.5x3.5x6.5, with a 265cfm vent fan, 600hps, 3x3 ebb flood & drain table. It has a cooling thermostat hooked up and set for 70*F, & fish tank heater to keep nutes at 65*F. I am growing urples 47 clones of them in a SOG setup trying to go for all signal main colas. I am using ionic nuts, never used it before this so we will see how that works out. I will vedg for 3-5 days then flower. The tent runs about 75*F with the light on and around 60*F or a little lower at night with the light off. I look forward to getting started just waiting on the clones should have them by the middle of next week 11-25. Till then thank you all for reading and fill free to post comments & advice is always welcome.

Let me preface this journal with this post -

http://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-de...room-s-op.html

and this photo:

I live in Oakland, CA and I am allowed 72 plants PER prescribed patient in my house, up to a limit of 3 patients per home. Either that or 32 sq ft of canopy :D

We started this room over a year ago and this is the start of our 4th grow. I still very much feel we're completely in an experimental phase as things change things with every grow...a lot of things :)

Here's the grow room in its current state

We added double doors to the entrance for when we need to tend to the ladies during the night time...foliar feeding, pH checks before lights on and what nots. 100% light leak free...even added the weather stripping all around the door and on the bottom to ensure total seal ^^

Here's our 40gallon res with the water chiller, we keep the water at a solid 68 F and even have a heater in there set @ 68 F incase the temp dips too low.

Also in the res are a 1000gph pump for the drippers and a 191gph pump to supply the chiller.

We are currently using the Cutting Edge Solutions line for our nutes. We use all 6 parts of the CES nutes along with the following FOR VEG:

Hygrozyme
Roots Excelurator
Sweet
Super Thrive
Drip Clean

We drip for 15 minutes every 2 hours during the 20 hour day phase.

In this photo you can see one of our 3 wall mounted, oscillating fans as well as the CanFilter 38 Special 100 with a 693cfm CanFan - the room is sealed for 20 hours a day and then during lights out...the CanFan pops on to dump the air out. The ducting is part of our closed, light-cooling system...this part brings cool air in from the room next to it with the help of 2 vortex fans...you can also see the piano string that we dual purposed...1 is to hang the co2 tubing above the table (clothespin with the black tubing)...but more importantly, we use it to dry the harvest :)

Here you can see the 2 vortex fans which are attached to our hoods. We're running 2x Lumatek 1000w ballasts. We recently cut down from 2 x 1000w + 2x 600w (3200w total) because heat was an issue for us. If you read the previous post I linked...you can see C3PO and R2D2 in this pic :) :) :) As well as our newly added 5000 BTU window A/C (with remote!!!) and the co2 tubing clipped to the piano string.

This is a 12,000 BTU Hydrofarm portable A/C...dunno why they call it portable..you gotta make holes in the walls to attach the intake and exhaust ducting...I guess because it has wheels. We keep the room right around 70 F. We're growing a couple of purple strains and really will be able to put the screws to them once they start flowering :)

One of the two humidifiers. We keep humidity between 55-65% FOR VEG. On clearance @ Wally's for 10 bucks each :D

The newest family member, the IGS-061 co2 controller. Set @ 1500ppm this thing keeps the room nice and enriched, even has a light sensor so it don't dump co2 during the night cycle...co2 has made such a huge difference in our grows that we highly suggest spending the loot for a tank and distribution system...even if you don't go for the controller right off the jump, there are plenty of online calculators that can help you figure out the flow rate and timings.

Now on to the ladies!!

Most of our clones came from Harborside Health Center in Oakland, CA on 11.13.09.

3 x So Gouda (Blueberry x Cheese x G13 Haze)
7 x Purple AK 47 (Grandaddy Purple x AK 47)
5 x Purple Kush (Hindu Kush x Purple Afghani) <-- These clones come from Blue Sky Cafe as they get them directly from Oaksterdam's nursery.

This batch we're trying different grow medium as we're looking for the best results from the one's we've previously tried.

We have 1 of each strain in a 3x3x3 rockwool cube on top of a 8x8x8 cube.
A Purple Kush (PK) and Purple AK (PAK) are each in a Sure To Grow (STG) Storm that is surrounded by Hydroton.
The rest are in a 50/50 mix of Hydroton and Diatomaceous Earth.

Some of the PK and PAK.

PK. Color is a little light as we only go 25% nutes the first week while they acclimate.

So Gouda.

PK in RW.

Any questions or comments are more than welcomed. I'm sure I've left stuff out...but it's late/early and I can get to them in future posts. I'll get more detailed on each plant as well.

As of now my next crop is cloning and germinating.

I have been running DWC for two cycles now and am changing my methods up to organics for my next growth cycle. For cloning I use a bubble cloner and for flowering I will be using organic soil mixed with perlite and peat moss and GH FloraNova as well as kelp extract, mycorrhizae, and fulvic acid added at varying times.

As for the sources of the kelp and the fulvic and humic acids, I am uncertain. One path is Humboldt's Own Gravity Bud Hardener for kelp and Diamond Nectar for the acid. Sub Culture M, Plant Success should keep the microbeasties strong.

Strains growing in this new organic setup will be

Dutch Passion Mazaar
Dutch Passion Blueberry
G13 Labs Pineapple Express
GHS Trainwreck
White Labs Master Kush
Sensi Big Bud

As of now I have

1 Mazaar clone,
2 Blueberry clones,
2 Pineapple express clones,
8 Trainwreck clones rooting.

One Trainwreck and one Sensi big bud germinating.

My setup is 600w in a 20"x36" grow tent for flowering. Those girls are in DWC and they will be done in approximately 6 weeks. Also I have a 38gal rubbermaid clone/veg box with 4 24w t5 fluorescent 2ft tubes and a smaller rubbermaid clonebox. Stays humid / warm but needs air exchanged occasionally for it gets very stale, a single PC fan and some vent holes would help this but I'm going to skip that mod on this one.

Pics posted soon no comments please until welcomed, if I'm looking to discuss something about my plants I will start a thread and link it if you are subscribed here you will see it no problem. Subscribe and pm me your thread so I can post it and we can rep each other's grows woah hoa hoa. Great deal.

So i decidet to do some journal.

i got 1 big White Widow, 1 White Rhino just 3dr set of leaves try to come, 1 jock horror, it's nice green and got tiny hair cut. then i got big bang comin but it's just side eye and then i got the joker pot, one drum filled with soil and there i got 3 plants:

NYCD, Aurora Indica and third one is well im not sure :) it's maybe Aurora Indica, ICE or Jock Horror. we will see it later bongsmilie

then i got one joker spot in the side of eye, there i got: 2 Aurora Indica and one ICE, they are just 1 week old shit heads and one Stunted but try to push comin Alaskan Ice.

old plants are 4 week vege and youngs are 1-3weeks

plants in the drum, they got 5-6 set's leaves.

Lights:
I got 600w balanced veg/flower hps and 250w hps. i have been useing both lights now 2 weeks and we are going to flower maybe next week, maybe Wens-Thursday-friday, lets see it then.

i have given some normal nutes last week and little bit bat guano today, but not watering yet so next watering they gonna get some bat guano melt..

i have got some troubles with my timers, but not anymore, only 2 little shitty prob's

I got some Seaweed tea and bat guano with micro elements nutes and some vege mix nutriens, i dont know what name or brand but should bee good :) it's from the pros

i running 18/6 period now, last grows i have going with 20/4.

I got Co2 tabs, those are really nice to use, just tiny fuckin piece of it, and just one spray bottle and just wait a fwe minutes and it melts and yu got water with Co2, and then just spray time and plants get moisture and Co2 at same time and sometimes with seaweed :hump: and they love it!

or just put tiny piece of this Co2 tab on the watering water and plants got all Co2 from the root's

One Co2 tab is enought to get 100liters of Co2 water so yu dont need much in one liter spray bottle or 2 liters watering pot.

My Head Plants are WW, WR, Jock And the Jack Joker Spot. others are just what they just are.. :) let see if i eat those fuckers or keep it little presents like one fucker get eaten at x-mas, one fucker get eaten at Happy Shit Year and One Is the shit desert :peace::twisted::eyesmoke: LOL....

but anyway i try to get some pic's for yu, maybe tomorrow, maybe not, but very soon

only looking to grow around 2 plants stealth is the key the pc fans are runningnoisey at moment not sure why.

I started off with a 200w CFL, but the guy at the hydro store told me about the CMH bulb and I was sold. Expensive but I'm sure I will make my money back.

Anyways, I put some mylar in my box to prevent algae and hydroton rock to cover the rockwool. I installed the 400w CMH bulb and and I got a huge freakin' CO2 tank pumpin' the goodness for 15 minutes every hour. I had 4 other seeds that I killed by covering them too deep into the hydroton. I packed it in like a dummy. I'm left with these 2 ladies until my other seeds arrive.

I forget the strains because I wanted to see it at the end. These two are either Bubblelicious, Jock Horror or Diesel Ryder. My next crop I will make sure I remember what is what. I have some Super Lemon Haze sittin' the sidelines right now:mrgreen:.

DAY 1

Hey guys I have recently begun my second grow(first journal) so here is the low down on equipment.

DAY 1

Hey guys I have recently begun my second grow(first journal) so here is the low down on equipment.

Medium:Roots Organics potting soil
Space: 4x4x7 Grow lab tent with 3 x 3 tray!
Ventilation: 6 inch active air inline and 6 inch booster fan(to cool the lamp) plus 2 6 inch clip fans for inside air movement.
Light: 400w Eye Hortilux Super HPS with Lumatek(going to purchase 600w for flowering)
Nutrients: General Organics
Pot size: White 2.5 gallon(10l)
Strains: 3 Grandaddy purple and 3 Green Cush(crack)

So I took the Roots organics potting soil, and I inoculated it with Great White killer roots mycorrhizae and bacteria. Interestingly enough the "potting soil" is based mostly off of Coco coir, but it has some peat in it as well. I am aiming to Ph my nutrients at around 6.1-6.3 because I believe the coco requires a slighter lower ph but since it's not completely coco i probably wont drop it to 5.8. So far the girls are staying perked up but it hasn't been long so we shall see. They were all healthy lush green when I obtained them so things are going stress free so far. Yes I am currently vegging with a Super HPS but it has some added blue. To be honest I really wanted to try out a 6.4k Sun pulse but the shop was out of stock of the 400w. I considered buying the Hortilux blue, but I don't really want to pay the same price for something that gives of 15,000 less lumens. So I'm vegging this run with the hps but next run I will obtain the 6.4 Sun pulse.

As of right now my temps when the light is on variate between 66 and 70 degrees plus my humidity is around 39%. I am a little concerned that it might be to cold for "day time" what do you guys think? Possible ways to fix this is turn off the 6 inch booster fan that air cools my light. I have tried it and then my temps go up to 75-80(witch I have heard is optimal).

I am completely open to suggestions and comments. Thanks for looking!

Well herro!

I'm fairly stoked because today my seeds arrived from gypsy nirvana, and I put myself on the brink of debt with a lengthy shopping spree at a local hydroponics supplier. I still havnt got all the supplies I plan to have within 1-2 months though. Anyways I can't wait to try this new Bubba Kush despite the negative hype from ppl who havent even grown it.

The setup:
Room - 8'x8'x8', black+white poly, exhaust straight outside via window, intake from other half of the room that my grow room is built inside. I am using ghetto fans for both atm but will be picking up a few 6" 440cfm Can Fans within the next month or 2.
Strains- 5x GHS Bubba Kush fem, 5x PPP(gyspy freebies, unknown breeder, most likely nirvana, unknown if reg or fem id assume reg)
Medium- Coco Earth Coconut Coir. I'll be hand watering.
Lighting - 240w blue/white 4' CFLs for approx 2 weeks. Then to 400w hps.
Pots- Starting in small approx 1 liter pots, will finish in 3-5 gal.
Nutrients- General Organics by GenHydro

The plan:
Veg to approx 2ft on 18/6.
I will be starting to germ the seeds tonight, my method is a 12 hour presoak then into paper towel ontop of my "heat mat" aka cable box, keeping them around 22 degrees Celcius.

Pics will be up 2morow of the room, and my supplies. This will be my first Coco attempt, but I have grown twice in soil with mediocre results due to my own ignorance of ph and overwatering a few times. Dont worry, a ph meter was one of the things I picked up today and some ph up/down.

Feel free to post, especially any advice etc because thats the main reason why I decided to do a journal for this grow. I will most likely need a few of you to hold my hand if i am to be successful, lol ;)

Thats all I can think of for now, time to relax and burn some indo. happy smoking!

ok here we go
these plants are 14 inches the tallest and about 9 inches the smallest
the largest ones are very bushy and #2 (pic 8) is my favorite so far
its an inch smaller than the tallest but more wide and has less room inbetween nodes so its my early fav
im expecting quite a bit of stretch so lets see what happens

room
12 ft x 10ft main + 2X8 ft closet

table
4x8 homemade with 3in slant to drain running outside
( can make a bigger one if needed )
electric supply
#6 wire on a 50 a breaker into sub panel
2 20 a ckts on mechanical timers 2 20 amp ckts on all the time

venting (current setup)
2 squirl cage fans(one is hydrofarm other is scavenged ) each approx .75 amps and unknown cfm
input is from under house, output is from top of light and to outside
both run at same time 15min on 15 min off, and use 4inch flex duct

temp is running 72-79 and humidity 30-40% right below plant canopy at the moment

plants 7 lavender supposed to be mainly indica red pots
4 white widow black pots
1 blue dream little one in the front
currently in soil in 2.5 quart containers
soil is 'roots organics' indoor/outdoor potting soil
no supplemental fertilizers have been used yet
hand water with tap water every 2-3 days

have not yet, but plan on installing mylar on back wall

will switch to 2 1k hps's for flower

(noob) questions:
when and how often to transplant
ya i know "transplant when root-bound" but does that mean,
i can see a few roots coming out the bottom, or does it mean a mass of twisted white
when you pull it up by the stem...
-is it ok to transplant after bloom starts
- tall vs short and wide pots for final location
- how big should the last pot be? 7 gal?

pruning
-prune the small branches forming at the base of the stalk?
- my largest plant is already 2x+ the size of the smallest,
top the big one, pull it over and tie it, or just set the little one on a block?

When to go 12/12
-so.. im gonna have 2 1k hps for flower and i have an 8 foot room. how tall should i let the girls get before i switch,
currently thinking between 2 and 3 feet?

Fertilizers
- go spend big bucks at the hydro store or get something from the local super-sized hardware store?
- mess with micro nutrients since im using soil,
- specific products or brands recommended
- should i fertilize with a low concentration every time, or a normal concentration every 2 or 3 times i water?

what is the next step
probably not going to be able to invest much more money into our medicine until tax returns lol, but
what are the next major upgrades or changes that you more experienced gardeners recommend like for example...
-co2 and a closed ventilation system for the lights
-air purification system (activated charcoal etc)
- go hydro if so is the deep water culture the way to go in an area that can loose power fairly frequently?

thanks in advance for taking the time to look at our post and give us advice ;)
