hello all,

I'm not new to growing or using hydroponics but I wouldn't say i am an experienced grower. I want to try SOG (sea of green) for my next grow and i have done loads of research into the method but dont no what would be the best type of growing system for it.
I have a darkroom dr100 grow tent thats 1m x 1m x 2m. I'm using a 600w light with a cool tube and looking to grow between 8 and 10 plants.

thanks.

So in an effort to avoid paying $50-$100 on just a flood tray by itself, I recently set out to build my own for much cheaper...What I ended up with was a 2' x 3' concrete mixing tub from Lowes, flat bottom and straight sides. It was a whopping 14 bucks. So I'll start with a parts list...

2 x bulkheads...1 x 1/2", and 1 x 3/4" $2.50 each...$5.00
1 x Concrete mixing tub $14.00
1 x 160 GPH powerhead that lifts water 4' (not at 160GPH, but enough for this build) $16.00
1 x Five foot length of 1/2" I.D. tubing $3.50
1 x Two foot length of 3/4" I.D. tubing (i had this already, it's like a buck a foot) $2.00
2 x 10' lengths of one inch PVC $3.50 each...$7.00
8 x PVC "T" fittings...$0.50 each...$4.00
8 x PVC Elbow fittings...$0.50 each...$4.00
1 x 18 gallon tote...$5.00
1 x PVC riser $0.50

So this entire build cost about $61 dollars for the complete setup, minus an air pump and airstone...I need to add some wood boards underneath to prevent bowing from repeated flooding, and need some filters to prevent the tubes from clogging. Also need to cut the riser the the appropriate flood level, and I'm going to get a larger reservoir. (though this one would work just fine)

The current 18 gallon tote is going to be the freshwater auto top-off reservoir, purchased a float valve for 5 bucks today too...But this WOULD work just fine, as long as you top off with a couple gallons freshwater a week.

Size:  64.5 KB">IMG_0140.jpg
So lets begin!

I drilled a couple 1 1/4" holes at one end of the tray with my trusty porter cable...

Next I screwed in the bulkheads...The 1/2" is for the flood line, and the 3/4" is for the drain

Then I attached the riser, which I need to cut to length when I decide on what medium I'm going to use.

Ok...Lets put this stand together! I began but cutting the 1" PVC into 6 x 20" pieces, 4 x 19.5" pieces, and 8 x 3" pieces

Then I put it all together!

Quickly attached the tubing to the pump, and slapped on the drain tube...

And VOILA!!

I'm really sick of seeing aero this aero that. that shiz might work but buds dont know the diff. If people spent as much time learning what there crops like and less time making fucking bonsai roots we would all be better off. Just wasted 5 hours of my life reading 200 pages about a theery. Still no mad sacks guys? what gives? I thougt that high pressure aero was going to make yer plants bionic? Bonsai roots aren't all they cracked up to be huh?

My rdwc will CRUSH your HPA all day every day for ever. im seein water leaves 16" wide and buds 2 feet long. You guys keep chasing a waste of time dream and i'll kep pulling colas so fat your mother couldn't even take em on her wettist night. Keep collecting all that gear. When the news shows up after the cops theyll just call you a "really sophisticated grower" The pics will make the jury think you were a meth cook. My garden looks like a forest not a space shurttle The TAG dream is dead. Long live RDWC!! aero would be cool maybe if some of you live in the middle of the desert you only have 5 gallons of water. In AMERICA we use our water like there ain't no shortage. RDWC WILL END YOUR PATHETIC SCIENCE PROJECT!! Learn to grow, not show. Suck it aero fags

i kinda found this out by accident. i was using sm 90 originally to add to my rez to prevent nasties growing in my dwc. but i switched to dm zone because of the application rate. ive been sitting on the sm 90 for a few months and just used it to rid myself of spider mites, very effectively i might add.
so the time came to flush. ive been battling with fungus gnats for months now. ive tried mosquito dunks, and those knocked them back but didnt finish the job. when i flushed, i used the recommended amount of sm 90, which is far less then the foliar application requires, flushed with that, and have not seen a flyer or a mite in over a week. just wanted to put this out there for anyone else struggling with gnats, mites, or maybe even aphids.

peace

Hello everyone, i'm sure this is a stupid question but i have never grown with hydro before and i want to know how you control the nutrients. Like how much you put in and do you just keep it the same amount in through the whole cycle. I want to do a vertical flood growing setup like Heaths Robinson did and i know in his set up he changed the water every two weeks. I know you want to keep the PH around 6.5, does that mean you just keep adding more nutrients until it gets there? Im Sure this is all stupid questions but i guess i have to start someone where. THANKS FOR EVERYONES HELP
I am currently growing using canna coco as well as their line of nutrients, (A+B, cannazym, rhizo). I've become VERY interested in preparing my own nutrient solution w/ mineral salts and am beginning to completely understand the concept as they relate to pure hydro.

BUT, I know that canna coco holds on to certain things like potassium, as well as behaves differently as a result.

Given all these facts, has anyone tailored a nutrient profile/schedule for DIY mineral salt nutes to be used with canna coco? Or am I better off just ditching the coco and setting up a hydroton/hydro ebb/flow thing instead? The amount of money I'll save NOT using canna nutes will pretty much allow me to continue growing :)

PS, if this isn't the right subforum, could a mod kindly relocate it?

Thanks peeps!

Hey everyone, quick question. I have an Aero Flo 30 and it works great, perhaps to great. My girls have gotten to big and are crowding each other and shadowing each other so I trimmed things down a bit. A few plants have not grown and are just causing a mess but if I remove them I have no way to remove the roots with them due to them being tangled in with all the other roots.

I had to remove the plants........so now I have dead roots tangled in my root mass, what can I do to try to keep any problems at bay??

Hello, I have made this post before but I guess it was deleted because I was not actively updating it? I will try to make a better post this time:

parts:

Arduino Uno (or any of these: http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Hardware)
then it does it again for the ON time
*/
void Zone(unsigned long on, unsigned long off, int i){
  if (millis() - previousMillis[i]>= off && mode[i]==LOW){
    previousMillis[i]=millis();
    mode[i]=HIGH;
      digitalWrite(relayPin[i],mode[i]);
  }
  if (millis()-previousMillis[i]>= on && mode[i] == HIGH){
    previousMillis[i]=millis();
    mode[i]=LOW;
      digitalWrite(relayPin[i],mode[i]);
  }
}

5. Select the correct board, and port to upload under Arduino> Tools

You may need to change the output pins, since your arduino may be different than mines. but it is very basic and very easy to program and use. Please ask any questions. i promise to respond.

Hello everyone ! I'm new to the forum here but i have been lurking around and have gotten a bunch of good information. I have decided to give it a try and do my very first grow so any help would be nice . I decided to go with DWC w/ 4 plants inside a grow tent. I'm going to get some clones from my local MM clinic or from a trusted friend of mine.

As for supplies, Here's a list of what I plan on using

*4 Black buckets w/ 6 inch lid pots
*A 400w or 600w MH/HPS setup that i found on Amazon Amazon.com: 400 Watt Super HPS MH Grow Light System Digital Dimmable Hydroponic 400w hps mh grow light set kit. 400w ballast, Super High Pressure Sodium bulb, Metal Halide bulb, 19" Wing Reflector and pair of yoyo. Comparable to Hydrofarm and Sun Lig. I haven't decided how many watts due to heat issues.
*Secret Jardin DarkroomII 36x36x72
*EC/TDS Meter
*PH Meter
*6 Inch 240CFM Inline air duct fan
*10 Liter bag of Hydroton (2 bags)
*60 Gal Tetra air whisper air pumps (2 pumps for 4 buckets. May need to add more?)
*GH pH up & pH down
*GH Micro,grow, and bloom (any info on nutrients would help)
* Grodan 4x4x2 Rockwool Cubes
*2 Humidity monitors and 2 timers

I have two fans I plan on using. One being a 5ft oscillating fan combined with an oscillating floor fan.

Please, pleaseeeee let me know what you think of my setup so far and if i need to add or remove anything. Everyone seems sooo friendly here so i decided to use this forum. Thank you lots in advanced !

Thanks for looking, so I have a flood and drain table. 1000Hps, just starting week 3 of flower. plants are about 3 ft tall. If I try to take my ppm up to 1000, I get nute burn..950 nute burn..I'm ok at about 850..I should be at 1100 right now..had anyone experienced this? Is that normal? The plants look fine. I can't imagine I'll ever take them to 1400, 850 seems to be pushing it..any advise?
