So i changed over to a 6 pot system to accommodate my new seeds i have coming in (Pineapple Chunk, White Widow, The Purps) and i have some regular seeds i planted and you can tell from the picture they are doing pretty good. Im about 4 weeks into the new grow and my new Apollo 400 watt light should be here any day now to replace these shops lights!!! I ran a new drip system with pvc and copper elbows so keep water running over these babys 24/7, and ive yet to have a problem. I have a submerged pump in the container and the pvc run through all the plants and drips right back into the main bin of water(ten gallons). I also have a PPM reader coming in the mail so i should be able to keep track of the nuts in the water, right now im changing the water every other week. I keep humidity at 40-50 percent and the air and water temp around 75 degrees. These babies have been doing great and where a great way to test my new system before i get the good seeds in. So what do you guys think?
In the two pot system the plants would literally grow an inch a day. Im thinking i have to up my nuts in the 6 pot to get better results

I have a new aero setup that would like some advice for. I started this grow on may 28th from clone in 5 gal. Buckets using the Lucas formal with some slight modifications. For my nutes I am doing 2-5-10 ( 2ml gro, 5 ml micro and 10 ml bloom) per gallon. I also added 7ml cal mag per gallon. Ph is at 5.8 and staying there. I am also using a 400w MH light that is placed about 6 inches above my tallest plant. I would like advice regarding if I should start roping the plants as well as when I should force the plants into flowering. My tallest plant ( on the left in the pictures) is at 25 inches as of today and the shortest plant is at 17 inches. I would like them to be a good height for the largest yeild. Plants are planted in 6 in. Expanded clay net pots so I would like to keep that in mid as far as support goes.

Hi Team,

I'm an intermediate grower, but I've always had issues with fluctuating pH in my hydroponic setup.

I built a flood and drain system (see my sig for link to pictures of my setup). I use Vitalink Max hydroponic nutrients and a basic pH meter, like this one. My tap water runs at a pH of around 7.3. It takes roughly 4 drops from a tiny eye dropper of pH-down solution to bring the water to a pH of 5.8, and my tank holds about 16L of water (4.2 US gal).

I have some concerns, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on them for me.

The pH of my tap water requires about 4 drops of down solution to get it to 5.8 in my tank. However, if I add the nutrients to the water (either veg or bloom nutes) before balancing the pH, it seems to take 3 times as many down drops to get the pH to 5.8. Is that normal? Are the nutes having some kind of effect on the pH level of the water, or are the nutes causing my pH meter to give erroneous readings?

Every few days, the pH in the tank rises by .3 to.5, so after a week of being fed by the same tank, the pH has gone from 5.8 to 7.2, and requires 10 (or more) drops of pH-down to get it back to 5.8. That seems weird to me. Why does it only require a few drops to level the pH out when no nutes are in the water? Is my pH pen a piece of shit? Should I invest in a Bluelab Combo Meter to make sure the pH is right, and it isn't affecting the balance of nutrients in the tank and the plant's ability to absorb them? They're pretty expensive for a hobby grower like me and might be overkill. Although I haven't every had a plant die on me, they all show early signs of slight deficiency. I can't think of what it could be, other than abnormal pH levels in my water tank causing lockout.

Has anyone else had issues with rising pH levels, and the difference in the amount of pH-down solution required to lower the pH with nutrients already added to the water versus the amount required when nutrients have not been added to the water?

Peace

:hump:My grow partner and I stumbled across a deep freezer that a friend's friend is wanting to give away. For free. Now... we've had this idea of using a deep freezer as a reservoir and I'd just like to get some RIU opinions on the idea. The plan is to use the temperature control scarcely, for example, on a timer adjusted appropriately. This would keep the res temps cool without overkilling it. It is also said that the thing already has a drainage installed into it, which is perfect for our system as it is a 10 bucket leveling aeroponics system with a drainage manifold, of course. Think about it... It has a built in cooling mechanism, a drainage which will be exploited to its fullest extent, a flip-open lid for the kiddies, it's 100% light proofed, and it seals via magnetic strip. BAM. Commence discussion.

What's up y'all. Got a few pics. These babies been goin for about 3 weeks maybe a little longer. How do they look to you guys. They were all germinated at the same time. One is a lot shorter but it looks healthy. The second pic is of my dwc setup. Growing with some good nutes this time, my question is when should I put them in the media and get this party started. They are some pretty good bag seeds from some mids. Built my cabinet to try some autoflowers , I have two qwerkle and a cream caramel, just thought I'd give it a good try with these that way if I fuck up I won't cry as hard. Right now I got em on 12 and 12 bc its been hot and humid. On from 8to 8 at nite and off durring the day when it's balls hot . 8 to 8. I been watering them every other day usually let em chill a bit on the water till they really need it in the early stage so the roots search. . My fist grow I watered them bitches sometimes twice a day and it didn't work out so well. Sometimes the temp will get up to 80 if its super hot outside maybe 84. They look healthy enough if it gets this hot every once in a while is that bad ? I try to keep it about 75 if I can tho.just really need to know when and how (the correct way to transplant these , and when. Anyway thx for readin and for any advice. Peace

I run drain to waste with coco. I have a standard 40 gallon reservoir and I don't use ph down anymore. This is my fourth grow without ph down.

How do I do this? I'm using a resin provided to me by an organic chemist. The first time I mix my reservoir in a clean tank I throw in about 5 scoops of resin and then turn on a secondary pump to circulate the water around the tank causing the resin to work a bit quicker. The PH drops to around 5.8 where I like it. After I have run through the tank, I refill and repeat the process. The resin is heavier than water and sits on the bottom of the tank like a coarse sand. If it looks like it is starting to weaken and ph is higher than I would like, I throw in another scoop or two. I use my meter infrequently and could probably live without it.

It's not an idiot proofed system. Once I did add way too much and the ph dropped down to around 5. Had to scoop some out of the bottom of the tank and add more water.

I suspect the resin would be more useful to someone who was using a recirculating system with smaller reservoir who was having problems keeping their ph down.

If you are doing a small recirculating or deepwater grow and would like samples to test I can provide some. I just want to know what experiences you have from it.
You will need to be able to recirculate the water in your reservoir to make it work. Bubbles or a secondary pump can accomplish this. Ideally I would prefer people who
have smaller reservoirs of say 30 gallons or less since I have limited test material.

So this is my first post here on RIU and i hope i get some good advice/responses. I just ordered some White Widow, Pineapple Chunk, and The Purps and two free seeds from The Single Seed Center. Once they get here im going to build a set-up similar to the one here in the pictures which i will use for the vegetative stage. For this new set-up it will house 5 plants in a 15 Gallon tub with a 150gal fountain pump inside the tub and the same pvc drip system circulating water over the roots. For veg i have a 125 watt full spec grow light and for flowering i have a 400 watt Apollo High Pressure Sodium Light. I am using fluro-duo 2 part nutrient system and keeping my ph around 6.5-6.8.

QUESTIONS
Has anyone order from Single Seed Centre before and is so how where the result?

Is a 400 watt/53,000 lumens light gonna be enough for the 5 plants i mentioned above?

Has anyone grown these strains and if so do you have any tips?

When the plants first start out should i run the drip system constantly like i did with the plants in the pictures (which are just seeds i found, just practice) or just three times a day for 15 minutes?

Im using hydroton as a growing medium, after germination should i place the seed in rockwool. then bury the rockwool in the hyrodton, or put the germinated seed right into the hydroton?

Finally, what is the best way to ventilate a small closet (4x4) with no fresh air vent?

Thanks for the help!
