What's up everyone? First post. Been reading this thread for about 2 weeks, guess I am about a tenth of the way through it all. I don't have a grow question but I would like to get some opinions on what the guy at my local hydro store keeps telling me. He says that bubbleponics is great for vegging a plant but that the buds are small and the smoke not very good. Judging from some of your grows I am not sure if I believe this. Thoughts?

P.S. I just started flowering a 14" beauty yesterday in a bubbleponics system.

So, I know that I worry too often sometimes. But I have been checking on these babies every day and sometimes 2-3 times a day to either squash bugs or throw in some frozen water bottles, or just mix up the cooling a bit w/ some extra fans. So I have been following the progression of my plants pretty closely. I know I posted pics a couple pages back and sorry for posting them again, but i'm afraid it may actually be a problem this time.

So there are brown spots on 3 of my plants. There have been gnats flying around, maybe fungus gnats? The crawlers have departed for the most part, but the flies seem to be increasing... ughhh. These damn bugs won't fucking leave, everytime I go in there I see more dead gnats on my box. I also found a dead gnat/fly in my res today that I picked out.. these bugs are really startin to get on my nerves and i'm afriad they are messing w/ my plants now too.

Here are some pics of the issue, I think I got 1 or 2 good pics in there of the issue. Even the new leaves that are coming out are yellow in the middle, but I was told this was normal. I am a bit worried about the brown spots however.

I have sprayed pesticide everywhere and that has worked for the crawling bugs. HOW DO I KILL THE FLYING GNATS/FLIES or whatever the hell they are, thought they were harmless but they might be those fungus gnats or whatever and I need to get rid of these fuckers. Sorry these flies are pissing me off, LOL. Have any of you had gnats before, how did you kill the flying bugs?? Thanks!

First 3 pics are showing the brown spots, i circled them in red. Last pic is the plant that is still showing no signs of improving and is yellowing more.

Time for nutes maybe?? I am convinced that the gnats did this, but I really do not know.

EDIT: Um, so I tested the Ph of my water using the new meter that I got... and it read about 7.7 after swirling it in the water for a minute. I then used one of the test strips provided w/ the kit and it seemed to be around 6.5. Now i'm very, very confused.... I don't know which one to believe.

Start them on 1/4 grow version nutes and that yellowing should work itself out. Watch for spread on the rust spots. If you go outside and look at plants in general you'll see all kinds of spots on them. Your not on nutes yet so it couldn't be over nuting. Look for your nutes to be about 200-250 + the ppm of your water. Your PH and air temps still in range? What's the temp of your water? Think that "sick one" may just be a runt but it will take time to know for sure. Even seeds from the same strain will exibit different growth patterns when this young. When the roots hit the res then they take off more than you'd expect. Just baby them until then. You're finding dead bugs so that's good. Just take time to get them to leave. Don't overdue the bug spray. Spray and wait a week.

Exclamation Roseman - Tom - Purp - I have updates!
Hey ROSMEN, TOM, PURP

I told you I would be back to show my progress of my first system. It's been a busy last two weeks so I haven't had time to come back on here but I definitely want and need some feedback and help.

In the span of 7 days they have grown tremendously with significant root growth.

3 of the 6 girls in there are about an inch from the light now, and the others are still have some growth room. So my first question is: Do I move the lights up for the tall girls, or do I keep them down so the others can sprout more?

On my 14th day, I dumped the tank, cleaned it throughly, and redid Roseman's tank steps that come with the system. So the tank has been cleaned about 6 days ago now, I did the same proceedure that was said on the sheet that came with the packets, and I have been just watching them grow. Depending on the weather OUTSIDE my home, the temp in the room significantly changes during the day. Usually during the day temp is around 84-88 with 30-50%, and at night while fully shut they can get up to 94 with a 40%. I know going over the 89-90 point can stunt growth. I really haven't seen the stunted growth yet.

My only concerns/info/questions right now are: When looking at my pictures.

These are all at DAY 17th as of right now!

Plant #1 has been doing absolutely amazing. She is getting bushy, all the leaves are very healthy, the stem is extremely thick, and the roots are already to the bottom of the tank.

Plant #2 was a straggler from the seedling stage. We removed and regerminated another 7 days into the grow. She has been popping up quicker then Plant #4, and seems alot more healthier then Plant #5.

Plant #3 was a straggler bag seed, it was showing great growth in the beginning. It's showing longer leaves, and isn't growing as high. Probably a sativa strain. In the last 2 days some top leaves started to curl in, and a few of the first lower leaves are wiltering or burning away.

Plant #4 was a straggler bag seed as well. Seems to be growing the slowest, out of all of them. This plant is showing very long branches to the leaves, and is not growing upward at the rate of the others. Some of the lower leaves are wilting a bit and are getting darker in color.

Plant #5 seemed to show the growth in the first 7-9 days. Then suddenly it slowed down compared to the others, and on day 14 noticed a fair amount of the leaves curling up and a very few tips turning orange. I thought this would bounce back by now, but it continues to grow, and continues to curl. The bottom leaves are wilting and burning at the tips slightly.

Plant #6 is growing at an almost identical rate as #1. However today was the first day I noticed some top leaves and leaves beneath the tops to start to curl. Not many but some.

When I cleaned the tank I did 5 gal fill to room temp, strained and dissolved half micro/grow and slowly added. I waited 8-10 hours and then added the other gallon with strained/dissolved remaining nutes. I have two 12 inch air stones as well on each side of the tank. After adding the nutes, I was at around 6.7 PH with 6 gallons of distilled water, and a PPM of 102. I added a 1/4 teaspoon of Hardwater Floro Mix to help with salt reduction. I have been spraying the plants daily almost every 4 hours or more. If the humidity drops below 30% I usually put a bowl of hotwater in the closet and that will usually rise the humidity pretty quickly.

I feel like I am on a good pace. I am just nervous for #4 and #5 mostly. Also since they are not femminized I am nervous on my luck of the ladies.

ANY HELP, POINTERS, SUGGESTIONS ARE SUPER APPRECIATED..! I know some of the seeds are Super Silver Haze, Sour Diesel, and I think one is Romulin. If that will help you guys in anything.

Also - #3 and #4 the roots are bonding together in the tank, should I try to seperate them?

Thanks much everyone.

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply. I edited my other post about my Ph levels and this got me really worried. The HM meter read 7.6-7.7 PH!!!! I used one of the test strips and that still showed it within range was about 6.5 . I ordered some PH 7.0 calibration solution from General Hydroponics off Amazon. I am hoping that that meter was WAYY off or my plants have been living in shit for a while. Last time I checked the Ph it was normal around 6.0-6.5 using the test strips, that was like 2 days ago. Odd thing is that the test strips are still showing it within the normal Ph range. This meter a dud, or maybe just needs recalibration? I used distilled water when I filled up the res on June 10th. Air temp is still 78-80F, water temp was about 74F last time I checked, been adding frozen water bottles regularly which keeps the water temps in check.

My plants still haven't drank any water, it is still at the 6 gal line. Also, only about 3 of my plants look good, with 4 leaves. 3 of em are runts, should I still add the nutes?! I am a bit worried bout this Ph issue, or what seems to be, unless that meter is WAY off....

EDIT: I have been filling empty water bottles with tap water, and freezing them, then throwing them in the res. Could this maybe be throwing the Ph off a bit since I used pure distilled water to fill the res. It is confusing because I do not know what the Ph is for sure since these meter appears to not be working, no way it is at 7.7 ..

Don't know for sure on the meters. Mine were fine but the calibration should answer that problem. They won't be drinking any water as such until the roots hit the res. At this point you'd be only loosing what water is lost through evaporation and that's not much. Got any PH down around?. Give it like 5 ml (one teaspoon) and see where your ph goes ( should just drop it about .1 - .2). Add about that much per day until your calibration fluid arrives. Anything between 5.5 and 6.5 is fine at this stage. Those test strips are not the most reliable measure. More of a range thing. What the PH of your fill water? Frozen water bottle shouldn't effect the PH at all unless they are leaking. The meter has temp adjustment built in to the circuitry. Everything else looks within range.
