OK I'll ask the question about germination and the SH system.
If you look at the SH home page and download the phf files the section on germination is not really complete with info on light, water or temperature and time.
Thanks Roseman

Getting Started

With the DUAL SPECTRUM BUBBLEPONICS KIT, you will find within the instruction manual, two distinctly different ways to get started. On way says: you can add rooted cuttings or seedlings to the net pots and then cover the remaining area with hydroton. The other way says:
Rockwool cubes containing seeds can be added at this point as well.

So which way is best? Well, like my granny said, "there is more than one way to skin a cat".

With my first grow, I was sitting on pins and needles waiting for my kit to arrive. I was told to expect it to get here in two days and in two days the UPS truck arrived. The day before it arrived, early in the morning, I began the germination process. I took six seeds and put them in a porcelain cup to soak in pure clean unclorinated water and I placed the covered cup in the darkness of a kitchen cabinet.

When I arrived home that evening, I took the 6 soaking seeds and carefully removed them from the cup without touching them with my hands. I drained the water from the cup and gently placed the seeds on a twice folded wet paper towel. I refolded the paper towel twice again, covering the seeds in darkness. I laid the wet paper towel on a plate and covered the seeds in the paper towel with an upside down bowl. I then placed the plate and bowl back into my warm kitchen cabinet. There I had the three key elements of germination, MOISTURE, DARKNESS AND WARMTH.

The second evening, I looked at them, and all I could notice through the wet paper towel was a little swelling. The paper towel was still very wet. The third evening, I looked at them again, and could see little "tales" or little roots growing from the seed and that the seeds were cracking open.

The fourth evening, the root was about half to 3/4 inch long and the hull of the seed was cracking open. I was ready, I had my StealthHydro system assembled and running, so I ran and got the tweezers. I had one inch of hydroton in the cups and the tubes in the center of the cups, bubbling out water. I took the rockwool cubes and very quickly dipped them into pure water.

I shock them to stop the dripping but I did not squeeze them. I removed the plastic cover from the cubes. I only needed the cubes damp or wet, but not soaking. I placed each seed in each cube, with the baby root pointed downward and poured more hydroton on the sides and top of the cubes, making sure the tube butted into the cube. I made sure the tube was feeding the cube and I was good to go. I put covers over the cups made from styrofoam saucers, for two days, blocking the room's light from the cube.

After one day, I saw the two first leaves climbing out of the cubes looking for the lights and then I laid the covers aside and thanked the angels for looking after my baby seedlings. From dry seed to sprouted leaves took about 6 days. On my second grow, I placed wet soaked "for only one day" seeds directly into the cubes and I started the bubbleponic flow. I made sure the cubes were very damp but not soaked and crushed. I covered my cups and cubes with a damp folded paper towel, because I did not have any styrofoam saucers to use for covers. In 5 additional days, I saw 5 cubes with sprouted seedlings looking for light. The next day, the 7th day, my 6th cube sprouted the baby seedling. Both ways of germination took 6 days from dry seed to baby sprout. Like Granny said... there's more than one way to skin a cat.

On my third grow, well, by then, I was feeling like a botanist or a horticulturist or at least like someone who knew something about germination of seeds. So I ordered the Mistic Cloner. I was about to harvest my herbs and was anxious to start my third grow, so I snipped off about 6 inches of the tops of my plants, making sure I had two nodes or two branches growing form the tops. I put them in my Mistic Cloner and in 3 days I saw new baby roots.

The 4th day, my patience was gone or no longer needed, and I moved my babies from the Mistic Cloner to the StealthHydro Bubbleponics growing system. I added 1/2 of the GROW Nutrient packet, and I saved over two weeks of time germinating and waiting for growth. I had roots over an inch long and they were so happy to be fed by the Bubbleponics tubes. Ta Da ! Another way to skin a cat!

Another Getting Started

here are some step by step start up instructions:
To start with, what kind of seeds are you using? Try to either purchase some hybrid indica seed off of the internet, or try to find some from another grower. If you can not do that, maybe you can find a bag of sensimillia that had only a few seeds. With this system, To get a fast start, you can put the seed in wet paper towels while you are setting up the system. You'll want to put the wet paper towel on a plate, fold it over several times, covering the seed, make sure it is very wet,and then place a bowl upside down over the seed to make sure they are kept in the dark and stay wet. The only problem doing it that way is the sprouts are very delicate and you will need some tweezers to put them in the rockwool cubes.
YES, you can simply directly put the seed in the cubes to start with and that is faster and easier.
Let's start at the beginning. Try to use a secluded closet, with the wooden dowel or long rod overhead that you hang clothes on. You will need to get a thick rope or some thin chain, to hang your lights on. If you have the two lights, get two lenghts of chain, (or rope) and make a three foot long loop. Rinse out the tank with clean water. Try to find a small box, table or something like a large ice chest to put your tank on INSTEAD OF RIGHT ON THE FLOOR.. Be soaking your air stone in clean water, soak it over an hour or two.
Those DUAL Spectrum II lights are the very best. HID lighting is also the next best to dual spectrum, but they put out a lotta heat! Take your rocks and put them in a large strainer or colander, and rinse them, and rinse them again, to get the dust off. Ignore the instructions that came with them about using the pumped water to rinse them, that is too much trouble. Just rinse them first in a bowl. I prefer to rinse the rocks in a colender, and I rinse them ten times too. You must get the dust off and out of the hydrton rocks.
Get your tank and lights in place, and then take one of the cups, and fill it 1 - 1/2 inches deep with the hydroton rocks. Then put your Rockwool cube in it, (take the plastic off the cube), and do not squeeze the cubes. Put one seed in the center of the cube, and put the cube in the cup, and put the rocks all around the cube. Do the 6 cups and put them in the lid, then put about a half inch of rocks on top of each cup, leaving the cube top uncovered. The top of the cube should be a little less than even with the top of the cup, or better is sitting an HALF inch lower than the top. Fill the tank with 6 gallons of the best water you can find, anything but city water. Use warm, room temp water. NOT HOT!(I use well water cause it is free) Now set the lid on the tank, and raise one side to see in , and make sure everything is connected good. Learn to use your hands and not your eyes to check the connections. The "hub" has to be connected to the underwater subversive pump. The end of each tube is inserted into the top holes of the cup. You should run one inch of tube into the cup, right up to the cube, touching it. You can start at the very beginning with the 6 cups in the lid, EVERYTHING CONNECTED, then load the cups.
I bought some large fishing weights for 82 cents and used fishing line to tie them to the air stone so it would stay in one place on the bottom and not float up. You must be careful about what you use to anchor the air stone down to the bottom.

The END or ENDING It
Let me share something with you guys about HARVEST DAY.

All kinds of emotions, and thoughts and Mental HIGHS and Emotional Lows just flood you on HARVESTING DAY.
1, you are so very very proud of what you have done, that you want to tell someone, or everyone! You want to show off~!
DON'T DO IT ! DO NOT TELL ANYONE, to help, tell us on this board, on this forum. Let your peers and growing buddies see, but you got to keep it quiet.
With every grow you do, you will get more relaxed, MORE COMFORTABLE, and Less Paranoid.. THAT IS NOT GOOD.
You will think I DONE IT, I GOT AWAY WITH IT!
BE CAREFUL!!!!
Something else...........Grower's Depression.......
Every morning, for 13 weeks, every morning, EVERY MORNING, I, we, all of us, we get up out of bed, and run to see them, to see how much they grew, how much they changed. We raise the lights a little higher, we check the water level, the pH, we mess with them,we adjust them, we move them, we play with
them, we examine them....and for me, every evening, I get home from work, and to that grow-closet I run, to see what happened that day, raise the lights some more, adding water, writing in our journal, recording every little change, adding nutes, moving lights, fooling with them some more, .....every day for 13 weeks, and then, WE WACK THEM DOWN! We cut them, we take them apart, and it is such an emotional STRESS to do it. THose empty stalks just look so sad.
AND WORST, AFTER we get them in drying boxes, we have those tanks, those EMPTY tanks. We have the mess to clean up, and so we clean up the tanks, check the pumps and tubes for damage, (roots grow into
them).
And the next day, we get up out of bed, and there is NO GROW to go check on. Its an empty closet. I go to work, but there is no rush to get home, my GROW is gone, it is done, finished. And brothers, how sad it is, that empty closet. We can go check the fans blowing over the boxes, we can go shake and stir the popcorn buds, we can bend a stem to see if it is getting DRY yet, but it only takes a few mintues, and we are done.
No Lights to check, no water levels, no nutes, no pH testing, it is done! You can kinda come down off the GROWERS HIGH by Drying, Curing, checking the jars for a 30 days, but sooner or later, there is only one solution to the idleness AND SADNESS and Depression of not having those girls, those beautiful babies to nurture. one solution only.............

START ANOTHER GROW!

You're going to remember this post someday, when you do that harvesting. AND you'll ROLL and fire one up and feel much better because you're smoking the very best pot that you eevr smoked, and IT IS FREE AND DID NOT COST YOU ONE DOLLAR!

Last grow I tried them at a weekly stage (honest they just hopped out of the jar, they were talking to me, Smoke me MC, smoke me!). Got a new bong on Saturday, smoked my best bud and can't for the life of me remember yesterday.

First grow/dry was the cut the plant and hang the whole thing and that took what seemed like forever to dry. This is quick, easy and effective.

Thanks for sharing that

with one tank, and 3 females, and all those watts, I'd get at the bare minimum, at least 9 dried manicured ounces. That is average size plants, VEGGED 5 weeks. IF I was LUCKY, I'd get one or two bigger than average plants, IF I topped and Fimmed right, and I;'d get 5 to 7 ounes off of one plant and 3 or 4 off of the other two.
My very first grow, I made a lot of mistakes and messed up alot, and I got 7 and half ounces from 3 females.
