YIELD?
There isn't a clear cut answer, but my experience has taught me that
The max yield from the system depends on many many factors.
If you let the plants get about 14- 16 inches tall in 4 weeks and use the sea of green method, seeking tops only, you might get 3 oz of bud, maybe 4. If you wait and let them get bigger, you do not get much more quality buds. (some little bitty buds can be found tho. ) You get about the same amount of bud with taller plants but it takes longer to get them. If you let them get about 16 to 20 inches tall, and bend them over and tie them so that the main stalk is growing horizontal, you can get 6 oz or more.
If you have 6 females in the tank or if you get mixed and remove the males, it changes the output but not much. 4 fems give almost the same as 6 fems because they just grow together. If you let one get about 2 ft tall in 8 or 9 weeks, weeks, (yes, they grow 2 to 4 inches a day with this sytem, if you change the water and nutes frequently) and them move that one to a 5 gallon bucket equipped with an air stone and pump, and let it grow with 24/7 lights, you can get a lb or more, depending on if you used sativa or indica.
Also the lights you purchased make a major difference. If you going STEALTH with the spiral Flourescent tubes, you can put the lights very close, like one or two inches away and they grow like crazy, you have to raise the lights higher 2 or 3 times a day. But those lights do not saturate and penetrate deep into the plants, and are made for the tops and sea of green method. If you buy those 400 to a 1000 hot lights, they do not grow much faster in the beginning, but they do saturate the plant with light producing more buds. But then you have to deal with the heat.
There's no definite answer to yield, it is all an experiment with many varibles.

ABSOLUTLEY ! After 8 or 9 weeks, the base of the stalk will be one inch thick and the cube looks like it has disappeared.

1, both the lights Yes, it takes both to produce the full spectrum and you sue them both all the time.
2, recommend just germinating the seeds right in the system YES, especially if this is your first grow. The tubes will wet them enough and they will sprout in 4 to 6 days. Go back and read my post about getting started.
3, large new garbage can over / on top of it , mother in same closet Man I just don't know about that, the humidity or lack of it, and heat would be too much. I think NOT. Even the STEALTH LOW Heat lights would accumalate heat in that trash can. After you have harvested some flowers, 2 or 3 times using the sea of green method, you could just cut some healthy limbs or brances and put them in new cubes and root them in your system. They root in 10 days.
4, how long I should veg I've never done it the same way twice. Sea of green, or bent over and tied, or remove 2 plants to make more room leaves different results. IF you in a big hurry to get some buds, I'd veg them only 4 weeks with 24/7 light and GROW Nutes, and then start the BLOOM nutes. with 12/12 lights. Some growers recomend gradually reducing the lights, but when I went from 27/7 to 12/12 in one night, I didn't see any shock. They will still keep growing taller and bushier while they are flowering.
5,Are you dipping the clones' stem into rooting gel NO, it might root faster but I didn't and don't use the root jel or any rooting aid.
6, Can I keep the plants in flowering mode and get another harvest FOR SURE YOU CAN, MAYBE even 3 or 4 harvests. I've gotten more the 2nd time around than the first.

SURE, get what you can, when you can. When you get 4 weeks growth, you are going you have to make a big decision. 1, am I going for FAST, Simple and Easy and useing SEA OF GREEN (which is best choice) or 2, do I want to let them get very big and try to get more buds, but wait like 13 to 18 weeks? I say try both, but dot he sea of green first.

two more lights?
You will see a big difference when it comes to FLOWERING. The GROWTH or VEG stage will be about the same, but budding will go much faster with more lights. And those Dual Spectrum II lights are very powerful to be Spiral floursecents. Those reflectors they sell ae awesome too!

I used to use this system before I went back to soil... worked pretty well but I had the issue of the water getting too warm under the hps light (it's not air cooled), anyone else have this problem and might know how to fix it?

I didn't get the hps lights, I went Stealth and got the spiral flourrescent tubes.. There is an answer tho to your dilima, you ought to ask Customer Service at Stealth hydro. hundreds grow with that system, and they manage. Maybe your grow closet was too small?
