Is a 32 Gallon (121 Liter) Rubbermaid container too big?

Hello. I plan on setting up my first DWC with a 32 gallon container with 6 6inch netpots.

Is this too much for the size of container?

Is that too many nets?

When adding nutes if, it says 3 tsp/gal, should I add 96 tsp (ill figure out the math later on that)?

I dont think its too big, depending on the dimentions of the resevior, and how long you plan on vegging them out it could be to small ?
I think a good rule of thumb on size of area per plant is about 1 square foot at least it would be for a SOG which seems to me you could do a mini SOG on that ressy. I dont know how many tho untl you post dimensions, now as far as the ressy being big enough for the roots, yeah. I believe you need about 5gal per plant, so as long as you have the square fottage which would need to be 1x6, 3x2, or 3x2 then Id say youre good to go.

Before you get into all that tho, make a plan on how youre gonna do ressy changes, 32 gallons would be a bitch to move I suggest an inexpensive pond pump.

Youre gonna have to do something to make it light proof and youd prolly wanna insulate it a little.(helps maintaining temps a little easier)
I used duct insulation to wrap my buckets. doesnt work as good as a cooler, but its maintainable, for a fraction of the cost.

and yeah if it says 3tsp a gal and you have a 32 gal reessy, youd add 96tsp a tsp is 5ml so it would be 160ml i believe

It is 19 inches x 27 inches x 19 inches deep.

I am using 6 100 W bright light CFLs and an Aerogarden hood lamp.

I have a fully submersable 250 gal pump to change the rez. I plan on changing once a week.

I have 2 40-60 gallon aquarium pumps with two outputs hooked up to (2) 8 inch airstones. I also have one 30 gallon aquarium pump with a 8 inch airstone.

AM I overdoing it? I have failed twice with the Aerogarden and think this may be the solution. I have a PPm meter so I will be able to monitor the nutes. I think I failed because I used Fox farm nutes in the 1 gal AG Rez and burned the,. I think with the larger rez I can monitor the nutes better.

Id prolly put three or four plants in there, thats just me tho cant let em get to big tho cause those CFLs wont penetrate the canopy much, so maybe 6 can go. Are you top them or just go for one main cola per plant?

I have a 3 ft x 3 ft x 6 ft tent, so with the rez ill have 4.5 foot of grow room. i will be topping to maximize yield.

This is not too big... and you are not over doing it. Those air pumps will be sufficient definitely not over the top. The expensive thing...ESPECIALLY if you plan on changing the res every WEEk is the nutrients... theyll put a hole in your pocket with 32 gallons of goodness. The great thing is that you will be able to set it and forget it because there is just so much there like you were saying.

I have 27 gallon reservoirs for a perpetual grow... the nutrient costs suck. Everything else is great. You will not run out of root room. I can put 36 plants in each res if I wanted with no problem as long as it was only a 2 foot tall sog/scrog.

I juggled air stones and air curtains for a bit... I found air stones produce the most bubbles but the air curtains (bendable rubber ones) are soooo much easier to clean. Thats another thing you might wanna think about, are you ready to sit there with each of your air stones every week for a good 5-10 minutes each?

Good luck and have fun my friend.

You need a ppm meter.

Take that water pump and make a manifold out of 1/2 pvc that squirts 4 streams of water against the tote. You can buy a cheap 15 min on/off cycle timer as a controller.

I use a 18 gal tote with just three gallons of solution with a water pump setup using only 1 tsp of nova bloom and 1/4 tsp of nova grow per gallon and add water only. Because I have to add ph down every day I get all the N and P I need from the ammonium sulfate and urea phosphate.

BTW you don't have enough lighting. My guess is that you have 6- 26watt cfls. You need to at least double that to get to 300 watts total.

I got a PPM meter and a liquid PH test kit. I'll keep the PPM within the Fox Farm Reccomendations. PH at 5.5 (Im waiting on a electronic PH tester)

I have 6 26w CFL's and the Aerogaerden hood. It is 3 more 100w bulbs. You think I need more?
