DWC/Aero(BUBBLE)ponic 88 site Cloner Project W/PICS and how I did it...........

Ok folks, so here I have some pics of a project that I did from earlier this year that I have been meaning to get out there but haven't had the time. I put this cloner together because of the outrageous prices that I encountered attempting to price a cloner that would suit my means. I am going to explain everything to a minimum to avoid time getting the upper hand, any questions can be levied at a later date to cover any details that may be desired. So without delay........

I paid less than 100 bucks (far less) for everything that you see here, the air pump I already had and I actually just stuck it in the pic because I wanted to display one....I use a 70L that covers alot of ground and used that instead. I also use 4" round airstones now as opposed to the "bar"type pictured here....and obviously the tools are mine.....gotta get yur own........

Parts list....

1 - 10 Gal res...I used a Rubbermaid

1 - 185 Aquaponics water pump

1 - 4" Round aquaponics air stone

1 - .7Liter or better air pump

1 - 1/2" threaded to 1/2 " 4" PVC spacer

1 - 1/2" threaded to smooth PVC "t" fitting

2 - 1/2" t's (smooth)

4 - 1/2" elbows (smooth)

8 - 180° misters (yellow)

4 - 360° misters (red)

1 - 8' 1/2" pipe insulation

And of course I am assuming that you have 1/8" air line...........

DO NOT USE PVC GLUE IN YOU RES!!!!!!! Do you put crazy glue in your milk on your Captain Crunch©?

03.jpg04.jpg

First thing you want to do is establish a spot in two of the corners so that you can draw your guideline...its always good to determine the ammount of area its going to take to provide for how many "sites" you want to have, so do some measuring and visualize how much space is being taken by each site before you begin drilling. I usually in this case factor in the space BETWEEN each site also....Just sayin.......05.jpg06.jpg07.jpg08.jpg

Once you have the lines marked, go ahead and drill your holes......09.jpg10.jpg12.jpg

Once you have your holes drilled, its time to cut some plugs, unless of course you want to go down an pay way too much for these, you can do what I did and use a cheap ass pipe insulation, cost me a buck somethin @ the HD, you can do the math on 88 sites and the cost of 1&1/8" plugs at the hydro store.........you can see that I cheated on the cutting, but I want to emphasize the importance of having a consistent plug size, so that the spray from below is always uniform.
11.jpg

Now take your cut plugs and eliminate the sticky.........pull the tape off of the ends and stick them together, pull it apart from another spot, or cut it if you have that much energy....You can always try and put the effort into trying to find the insulation that doesnt have the tape, but these days its a crapshoot..........

13.jpg14.jpg16.jpg15.jpg

Ok, now you can put the plugs into the holes, provided you aren't too Baked to hit the holes.......its not complicated, but there is some margin for trail and error......

17.jpg18.jpg

You may notice that there are two types of tubing here, thats becaause I use the inside sites and the rows closest to the outside edges are rubber (neoprene)

12.jpg

now you can put together the rest of it, hook up the "aeroponic" pump with all of the parts to spray your babies butts, and run your air lines to feed the miccrbiologicals to the roots as they pop out.

21.jpg22.jpg

Now cut yourself some babies, get yourself some cloner stuff, wrap them up in their lil blankies and pop them into place for some shower time.......

23.jpg26.jpg24.jpg25.jpg

Dont forget to give them a little haircut.......

27.jpg

Now that you have them all tucked away and comfy you can check on them periodically to see how they are progressing.........

28.jpg29.jpg <NOTICE THE PLASTIC LID ON TOP<<<

After a week you will see baby root nubs popin out all over the place, congrats....your a proud parent!!

30.jpg

Tomorrow I will finish this up a bit with the transplanting and vegging....and I will also list the parts, I am too beat right now to go through with it....L8T.....

nice been trying to figure out a successful way to dwc right from clone.. are they fully submerged or just getting sprayed? and the cloning "stuff" is that a gel kinda stuff mines powder and dont really see it staying on the stem when they get wet..otherwise nice post

Nice DIY skills there mate i like it,i made my own bubble cloner using similar techniques but i just use a airstone at the bottom of my res and drop in my clones so the bottom of the stem is just above water level so the mist from the airstone keeps it wet, works a treat i usually get bumps in 7 days and roots take about 9-10 days.

The Clonex© is a Gel and yes it does "wash off, but the reason it is used is more to fill the hollow core of the stem of the cutting than to coat the outside. The stems are above the water, being sprayed................

Yeah, I tried this using just the airstones, but I found that its far too much work to try and keep the stems all at the right height.......using the aeroponic approach gives me root "bumps" in like 4 days.....as you can see from the pics, they have dates on them..........

I use an aero cloner, I always let my cuttings sit and soak in my roottech gel for atleast 20 minutes because I know its just going to wash I try to let the plant soak up as much as it can
im high :)

+reps and props man, made pretty good :). I'm going to be making my own very soon also. Where did you get those little spray nossels? Does your local hydroshop sell them?

.........ok so I know its been a few weeks, maybe a month, but I have been busy....I posted the parts list, and I am just going to post some of the result pics from this project to give you some perspective on the viability of this cloner................

.....First, take a baby out..IMG_2954.jpg..then get a 4" cube and make a hole..IMG_2963.jpg..put the baby in the hole..IMG_2967.jpg...and fill up your ebb n flow table (I used a RubberMaid© Tote ..IMG_3013.jpg....and wait til the roots are poppin' out the bottom.IMG_3014.jpg....and then table the lot, or however you wanna do things..................

..........so I am going to be setting up real soon for another go at it.....I have OG Kush up and coming and I want to be ready for it, so I took apart the pump system and cleaned it, and put it back together with some poor mans Teflon tape (plastic bags).......
