hi guys,

i've been using a dwc grow in a 'stealth' cabinet, about 200cm (h) x 40cm (d) x 92cm (w), with a 400w hps light and 4-6 plants (this has varied grow by grow). The most dry weight that i've seen is 212g (about 7 1/2 oz). Unfortunately i've been limited by the size of the unit in question and the light (although 400w is about as high as i could go in the space without major heat problems!!) and now i've got through 4 grows over about 18months i've decided to change the setup. I'm changing to 5 DIY oxy-buckets and a tent that is 120 x 120 x 200 and a 600w light. In terms of pumps i've got two already, both can have two seperate stones attached and i'm adding to (believe me more air is CRITICAL!!) this a budget outlet (10 fold) to really give a boost! I would add here that i've had a root mass the size of about 4 loaves of bread put together and they dont engulf the air stones, you do have to pull a few off!!

So onto my question;

how much difference do people think this will make to the yield???

for a bit more info, i flush weekly, using growells 'ultimate hydro feed chart' which includes vita link A/B, hygrozyme, then eventually big bud, overdrive and GHE ripen. Environment will be good, temps wont be too much of an issue, no CO2 though.

Thanks for reading!

just the light will make a difference for starters, then the more air per minute from the pump the greater yield and growth rate so you iwll be looking at a greater yield depends on strain aswell obviously :)

Go to the hardware store and buy a 5 gallon bucket, go to petco.com and buy some black air stones from them (work the best that I have found) and go to Cheaphydroponics.com and look for the 950GPH air pump for only $35 USD. This works great. If you can't find a good air stone take air line and a knife and poke a shit load of holes in it then wrap it around something that won't rust and throw it in the bottom of your bucket and Viola you made your own for about $20-30USD easy... Good luck bud if you need anything feel free to drop me a line :D

Iv grown DWC for a few years now but finally moved on to a just as effective way of growing (Autopots) - the thing with DWC is you really have to keep on top of it & watch the PH & make sure the water level doesn't drop too much otherwise you can get all kinds of niggling problem like root rot/PH flactuations etc. I left my 10L bucket for three days once without changing the water & the roots friggin stank! - You will get good redults IF you keep on top of refilling the bucket with fresh water when needed (2 days max in middle of flowering if using 10L bucket) See me gallery & journal for pics of my DWC & Autopot grows (same size plants using both methods) I highy recommend using Autopots though as the system is designed so the plants feed themselves when they need it, with just as good results...

I really haven't had problems with my DWC but I'm guessing that's just how you do it. I refill mine ever week but really don't have problems with smell unless you're talking sweet skunk :D I clean my res once, sometimes twice a month and don't have troubles. I add 5 gallons every week to all my tanks. I will throw those pictures up as soon as I find them... Will edit soon. Ok pictures up

do you just balance your plants netpot on something while you clean out the tank then

I just take and lift the lid while I pour a 5 gallon bucket in. I have a yard stick and prop the lid up with it. It works.
I will show you the process of when I do this here in a minute. I did it yesterday but can do it with an empty bucket lol Just for demonstration purposes.

If I had more bubbles (cheap weak pump) they would go through it a lot faster. I only lose about 5 gallons per week with my plants as is. They are healthy don't get me wrong :D
