I am 2 days from Harvest. I read in Cervantes' book to trim all the fan leaves 1-2 days before Harvest. I would like to and plan on doing this, but I would like other's opinions, since this it my first grow. let me know what you all think.

Also, Cervantes mentions something about 24 hours of darkness before harvest. I am planning on doing this as well... any opinions about the period of darkness?

He also says to drain the tank 24 to 48 hours before Harvest, so they dry faster.

I've never done any of those procedures, so I don't know.

Thanks Roseman. I have been flushing with pH'd RO water since Sunday. I don't know how I would feel about draining the tank dry. Sounds like that is just asking for problems... Thanks for your response. I am so ready to lolipop these babies!!

You're probably talking about a +/- 5% change in behavior. I've grown for at least 15 years and tried the darkness up to a week, drying them out, cutting them down, partial harvests, and truly it rarely makes much of a difference. If you ever get into making modifications start with something you can repeatedly measure then use your notes (you do take notes right?) and make one diviation per grow and track the change. A lot of radical changes are not very verifiable nor easily understood or repeatable.

he says drain it dry two days before harvesting. Harvesting is going to kill them dead anyways, and draining the tank helps reduce moisture in the plants, making them dry faster, during drying stage.

I did do a flush on one grow, my 2nd grow, (of 7) and I just could not taste any difference so I don't flush now.

I don't cut a thing until I harvest, no cuts equals no stress!! I don't want a plant to stress. Stress is not good for anything..Wood, Humans, Animals, and plants...I only flush and I do that for 72 hours. I haven't noticed a taste difference with or without flushing.

I agree. Just leaving them would seem right. But I've also read about cutting leaves to make her produce more hormones. I guess your best bet would be to do a study.

Grow two plants, cut some leaves and leave the leaves on the other. Best of luck!!

the only time i remove leaves is in late flower when they come off the plant with a gentle tug. I have noticed a diffrence by giving a dark and dry 48hr period prior to chop. but its what ever works best for you trial and error.........experiment.
