Started a Bucket and Wanted to chronicle the grow.
Going to try to keep this thread as clean as possible Thats right So i can show the new growers (And Old) exactly how easy it is to grow this style.Using items most of us have laying around the house just to get started.
Ill try to keep this as SIMPLE as possible

Some net pots.And a little hydroton.
I used 3.75" net pots in this set-up.
A black 5 gallon buket.
A cheap single outlet air pump,a little hose and a 6" stone to get started..

Key points:
Reservoir:
Black bucket..U can also use the orange and even clear buckets. All u have to do is make them light tight by covering them with either duck tape..OR i got lazy wrapping and decided to start using black trash bags taped around the buckets so no light can get in..
Ur going to have to use what u can but light tight is the key..
If u can put it over ur head and see light thru it. Its not ready for water.

NET Pots:
U dont even really need the FANCY net pots.. Although it does make life easier and they are real cheap if u have access to a dro store..
Ive personaly used regular soil pots with holes drilled in them.
Ive also seen anything to cheap plastic cups done the same way.
Just make sure u cut ur holes in the lid of ur bucket small enuff that whatever kind of pot u do use is unable to fall into the hole cut into the lid of the bucket. I trace my pots on the lids. Then take a marker and trace a new line around the inside of the trace and proceed with cutting from thier this always works without fail.

HYDROTON:
Id reccomend using hydroton if u have access to a dro store just because its cheaper then lava rock and its dark in color to help keep the light out of the reservoir water..
But u dont need the FANCY Hydroton either.
Ive seen successfull DWC grows using marbles as well.
Id reccomend getting marbles dark in color.But if u have to use the clear glass ones just plan on covering ur pots.

After a little consideration i didnt think it was neccesary to post pixels of a Bucket.Pump and Stone.
But heres a crappy one of the bucket already set-up anyway.

Take ur light tight bucket. Fill it with water.PH ur water. I PH To 5.8 Without Fail each and every time. (WILL get into this more later as we go).. Put the air stone in the water and turn the pump on HAHA.
BUBBLES.
Next take ur lid with the pot in it place it on the bucket and continue to fill the bucket so the water level ends up at the bottom of the pot.
Put a little hydroton in the pot so it looks like this..


Again sorry for the Crappy pixel..But the KEY POINT here is just keeping ur rock moist..U will see the bubbles pushing up into the rock maybe even splashing a little out. Its fine..
KEY POINT:
This is what u want and is most neccesary. To Manipulate ur beanling's and Force roots to grow down into the water and begin FEEDING!

Which brings us to the next STEP..

GERMINATION !


Wish i could make this harder but its that simple to set-up a DWC HYDRO grow bucket.

Germinating Beans:

I copied and pasted most of this from a previous post of mine pretty much sum's it all up..

KEY Point while reading I guess would be that. U will get ur best results by germinating ur beans first as suggested. This gives u full control over not wasting ur time with DUD Beans or beans that wont crack and grow for ya!

Here's what happens when u presoak in a cup of water until they drop to the bottom.
Take um out put them in a papertowel. These particular ones where just placed up on a shelf prone to light. The papertowel kinda even dried out the next day as well.
These where left in the papertowel for 3 days. Kept just moist with tap water.
Yup i left them in too long cause i wasnt sure what i was going to do with um.

These actually started growing out of the side of the papertowel as well.
Dont wait this long. They could have been transplanted and lost some valuable grow time.
This is only a refference for what i was trying to explain.


Again sorry for the crappy pixel but this germination technique goes hand in hand with the next step which is.

Transplanting ur beanling's into Grow plugs.

GROW PLUGS:

I have found that grow plugs work the best while using this particular style of growing..In particular refference to the style bucket i have already outlined and am using to make this GROWTORIAL.

I chose what i thought where the best to Beanling's of the bunch shown in the previous pixel.
I take the Plug. Squeeze it out in tap water a few times to get the stagnant air out.
Take and crack the plug open with ur thumbs. Set the tap root inside the crack in the plug so the Helmet or in this case the starter fan leaves are resting just flush or a little above the top of the plug.
From thier with these particular plugs i decided to put them in the VEG spot (18/6) lighting under 2X13 watt 65k cfls about 2-3 inches from the tops of the plugs.
Watered daily with a teaspoon of water.
Not only is the best way to start beanling's but when done this way u can literally watch them grow daily.

HERE they are after 2 days in the nursery.








U will get even greater results by transplanting ur BEAN PLUGS directly into the bucket immediately following beanling transplantation to the plug but I did not have room..

Which brings us to the next step..

Transplanting ur Beanplugs into ur DWC grow bucket.

Cant find the pixels for this haha..
But its real simple..
Just set the plug onto the wet rock.
And fill the pot up the rest of the way with rock to the bottom of the leaves.

So it looks like this.



As suggested in the last post id actually place the Bean Plug into the pot right after u put the beanling into the plug..
Follow the previous directions but just fill around the plug until it stetches a bit to cover the stalk the rest of the way.

Anyway from thier i just put these in the Veg with the same 2X13 watt 65K CFL's on 18/6 lighting.
About 2-3 inches away. U can see they where already a little stretchy.



And this was day 1..
900 PPM (40ml) Pro Grow.



5.8 PH

PH raised up to 6.5 over night on day 1 and day 2 since transplant.
All good whooped it back down to 5.8'ish.
And added 30ml Pro Flower.
Raising my PPM to 1100'ish.

KEY point.. Dont worry its perfectly normal for PH to fluctuate like this during the first few day's of a newly established res.

PH down only once per day. The res. is already beginning to establish what it needs to keep itself balanced.

Do Not Overcare. Or u will find urself starting threads on why is my PH to low and bla bla bla.. I just told u why. Besides these things are WEEDS and they dont need Overcaring and Phi'ing.What they need is consistency.
Stay in control. They like it.

This should actually preclude the DIY and segway right into the Growtorial part..
Here they are again. Got bored actually had a piece of Panda film laying around so i put it over the top of the bucket lid.. Maybe this will also help aid the fact these things are only being vegged with 26 watts of 65K CFL'S i dunno!

All stats are the same. PH stable around 5.8 - 5.9.
PPM grew a little..
But thats only cause my water level is about an inch below the bottom of the pots
This is like Day 7-8 ish probably sooner as i didnt keep track when i actually transplanted.

Doesnt really matter. Its grow time now. Hopefully i can share a few secrets on how easy this actually is with the proper tools.. A ppm and ph meter and some basic knowledge. Passed down by the pro's.
And a few inexpensive nutrient supplements.
And patience i guess.
