Default DWC Lowrider Curl Problem. Lots of details... Please help.
Set up:
250w HPS
5g DWC bucket w/ airstone at 3.6lpm
4" can fan
(set up to pull air out of the room through the light and exausts into a Carbon filter in the attic.)
20" Oscilating fan on high at plant level
BC Boost, Grow, and Bloom nutes
Organic pest control - Derived from deluted neem oil. (Light mist every other week)

Conditions:
16/8 Lighting
Light 10" from plant top
Aprox 75 degrees during the day at 60%RH
Aprox 70 degrees at night 50%RH
Water temp runs between 77 and 74
PH: 5.8
PPM: 700

Plant:
1 Ganga Dwarf Low Rider
25 Days old
I change water about every 7 days, keeping the level 2" below net pot.
Roots are nice and white, some light brown tint staining on older roots, no odd smells or slime.
5 set of leaves coming in.

Problem:
Leaves are droopy and the top set is ripply (wavy looking) with the tips and edges beginning to curl up. Upper sets are darker green then lower but everything is green. There is a very minimal amount of nute burn on the tips of the 2 and second set of leaves, no heat burn on any of the leaves.

I suspected overwatering originally. Used to mist about twice a day, I am not misting at all anymore.
48 hours later still the same problem.

Next I suspected over fert so I flushed with fresh water for 48 hours. Little to no improvment so I went back to a 450PPM solution of boost and grow.

Finally I thought Light intenisty stress so I moved the light from 10" above to 20".
Minor improvments but obviously havnt solved the problem.

Could it be because of my res temp?

Should I be using Ice bottles?

Should I be using H2o2?

Could It be because it wants flowing nutrients being an autoflowing plant? Its almost a month old.

Any other ideas?

It sounds a lot like my grow now, at the point you're at. I had a 400w hps, not too much difference and had it about 14 inches and it was too close, and I got the tips of the tops twisting a bit and yellowing... So I'm thinking since you have new growth, and more coming, that it is the proximity of the light to the plants.

Water temp is getting up there though... Mine flourish at about 65-68 degrees.

Now, I hear all this talk of ice bottles, and in theory it's a good idea. But I wouldn't know where to fit them. My roots are like freakin' huge, there's no room... LOL! When it gets time, I'm thinking of cooling the lines. It's a 'ghetto' idea, but I think it will work for my application. I believe I started a thread in the DWC or Hydro section called 'Ice Cooled Lines'... Check it out if you get a chance it may give you some ideas, some others have posted on it. Some bashing my idea, but it's cool... 'to each his own' my Grandfather used to say.

Hopefully an expert will chime in, as this is all I know.

You have flower nutes in there, that's what the bloom is. Most likely the rippling will grow itself out. Is there glass on your reflector? If so your light should be closer, not farther. If not get a reflector with glass. I upped my ppm to around 900-1000 at your stage and mine loved it. You didn't say how long between each step you already took for the problem to work itself out. It may take up to a week but if the rippled edges are your only problem and you ph and ppm are checking out and you aren't seeing major color changes I'd just wait it out if I were you. Sometimes the outside of the levee grow faster than the center which will cause that but it almost always grows out if it

Thanks guys. Only a few days between steps probly not long enough. Def got a little nute burn, I think that was the problem I have backed the nutes down to about 350 and the plant is looking better everyday. They said lowrider 1 dosnt like many nutes, guess they were right.

I also started with the frozen water bottles to keep my res temps down, seems to be helping too.

Gunna start supping with H2o2 starting tomorrow too and see how that goes...

I am still trying to find out how far my light needs to be... I saw good results when i raised the light to 25" but my younger plants started to stretch. Im at 20 now and that seems to be good. Just seems like I should beable to be closer with only a 250hps and yes it has glass and is vented.

I'm happy to hear that the road less traveled is clear.

I'm curious to see the frozen water bottles in the reservoir. I'm thinking of doing it when it gets hot, but don't know if it will interfere with the roots and air bubbles.
If you happen to be in there and snap a shot of it, please post.

Thanks-

My lowryders are at the begining of week 5 and at 1300ppm and loving it. 400 hps is about 8" above the taller few and I just raised it because they were so busy they were growing out of the main light.

I'd get my light cycle on 18/6 or 24/0 and move it closer. That HPS is better used for flowering than vegging. Lower the lights back down to 8-10" from the tops with that 250. Put your hand at the tops to check the heat. I'd STOP using the neem oil. Just misting them with plain water is a good thing to do once or twice a day. If you dont have bugs, dont use neem oil, Also, I'd turn my fan way down. You want gentle breezes not a straight line wind. You dont need H2O2. Your water temp is okay. If you'll point a fan directly on the res unit, it should cool it down some. At 25 days, your in full veg and your nutes should be around 1000-1400 ppm. If you're using tap water, be sure and treat it to dissapate the chlorine or chloramine.
Hope this helps.
