Oh yeah!
About the res. level indicators...
yes, they do get algae in them, but the algae doesn't grow in the tub. I already had that feature on the first version and it works GREAT!

Good Job! I want to try this. My question is this. What happens if you loose power?? is there any way to safeguard this? Thanks!

Yes, this is essentially all you need minus nutes, plants, net pots, clay media, lighting, etc.
Having read grow journals on soil, I decided to go with hydro. It's really easy...
get your ph right
go easy with your nutes
If you get nutrient burns(which has not happened to me yet), just empty it out and ease back on your solution strength.
No flushing!!!

Unless I lose power for more than about eight hours, I wouldn't really worry about it.
I had an air hose pinched one time for at least 6 hours and the girls didn't mind at all. Keep in mind, some people only run their air pump 30 minutes on, 30 off. Those little walmart airpumps only cost about 5 bucks and I have one that is 6 months old and still truckin'.

Great tutorial Diggiti !! =]
I love the level meter... If you can get a hold of some green clear tubing that will take care of your algae problem... I guess green filters out all the good light.
Only thing I can suggest is adding another airstone to each tub... the more bubbles the better =]
I can't wait to see what you put in them =]

Great idea on the green tubing. I think I might just make some cloth/velcro covers for them until I do version 3. But, like I said, algae is not a problem in the reservoir, just the tubes.
I've thought about adding another stone to each, but I've been running six plants in one tub with the exact same materials and the roots are white as rice. Maybe when the $$$ comes rolling in...
As far as pics of what I am going to put in them... I haven't quite made up my mind on whether or not I should do it. Talk is talk, but pics are evidence.

As far as power outages. With this kind of set up, you can use a "fisherman's air pump". Go to you local tackle shop, or check the sporting section of your local big box store, or ebay. It's just a battery-operated air pimp that fisherman use to keep minnows alive in their bait buckets. They run about 10 bucks.
As far as more bubbles being better. Well, we all know that more is not always better. Oxygen...of course, is an oxidizer. That's not a good thing. Fish take in more oxygen then roots do. So if your pump is rated for 10gallons, I think you'll be more then fine in this 3gal setup. Always keep in mind that more is not always better, especially in dealing with marijuana.

Good idea! I think I found something a bit more purpose-built though:
