there is a new design from red-shield@hotmail.com he has made a 1000 watt HPS light that can get as close as 1.5 feet from canape top with out burning of course you want to distribute the light better then that but the point is there is great potential for small location and basements and yes it works better with less wattage HID bulbs the design is proprietary so there is no pictures of how it is done but i have one and it is unreal i got it with a 28x25x15 hood with the German style reflector 150,000 lumens with the digital ballast 10 year warranty on the ballast and 5 years on the hood from red-shield@hotmail.com e-mail him and see what he has done.......

You'll notice he says the "canape" top. A canape is:
"A cracker or a small, thin piece of bread or toast spread with cheese, meat, or relish and served as an appetizer."

All that heat is perfect for melting cheese or re-heating meat from 1.5ft away with a light a bright as a mini-sun.

wow first it is not spam i am helping to spread the word on good lighting systems and i said it can get as close as 1.5 but that would be to close it has a P.O.T to adjust to the desired volume of heat you prefer why is my thread met with so much hatred i am just trying to make the world a better place to grow in and the guy that makes these hoods offers a discount if you herd it on a growing forum which kicks ass i got my hood and headrs about it on grasscity.com and yea my pics show a CFL' hood because i prefer CFL hoods serious i am just trying to spread the word its a bad ass lighting system and nothing more i know there is no need to have the light that close because as i said before that would cause poor light distribution that low just trying to make the point that it can get as close as you need it so that you may use all the lumens you possible can i think it is a neat design have a great green day......
