Default My Vent Idea
Works Well.

You can vent out the back or side of the closet into an adjoining room. A small vent, 6 inches round, is not very visible. if you paint a fancy cover the color of the wall most people wont notice the new addition. You should also cut (or have cut) the door just a bit shorter on the bottom so that would become your PASSIVE VENT. Tape a piece of cardboard to the bottom of the door to prevent light leakage.

You then get
duct tape
Poster Board
some flexible dryer duct
12" 3 speed Fan.

From the Poster Board make a cone "\ /" where the Wide end = 12 inches in diameter and the small end = six inches. Duct tape it really good all over the outside.
Attach the dryer duct to the 6 inch side of the cone
Duct tape the wide end of the cone to the 12 desk fan with the fan blowing into the cones end.
Mount the fan somewhere near the plants or your greatest heat source.
Run the dryer duct through the wall into an adjoining room (preferably behind a piece of furniture)
Place a nice pretty vent cover over the hole and act like it was always there. You can always just spackle and paint over it before you move out if you need to.

Hope this Helps.

Well it is meant to be a Cheap alternative. Pretty it up any way you like it (wrapping paper for a Christmas look all year round, or Foil tape for that space ship effect.) Lots of CFMs and air movement. Quiet. If you want you can get a rubber flap for the door bottom, the space there is usually enough to use without cutting. IM no Piccasso but heres a rough sketch

well, you can get a cheap bathroom fan(50CFM) for $13 that outputs into a 3" hose. I don't think you can put together a fan, posterboard and duct tape for much less than that.

I don't think that the outputting into another room is such a bad idea if you don't care about smell or your grow doesn't smell. Mogie vents her stuff to a bathroom in her house.

However I'd place the fan, hose, etc high up in the room. So that makes it harder to hide unless you put a really large return grill over the outlet. Even then some smart people will notice that it's blowing at times it shouldn't be. Plus you need to remember to dust it if you do this.

I don't think it's an awful idea. I'm sure it will be useful to some people.

Yes but MOST folks have this stuff laying around Who does not have duct (or clear, or masking, or any tape that will hold on cardboard even staples and scotch tape work. Some cardboard (think cereal boxes) fan well some might have to buy one but mine was 8 bucks at wally world. the dryer duct was 8 too. Thats 16 Ill go to 20 with other areas and tax. does that 13 dollar fan come with the hose? if not add 8 bucks thats 21 also the fan I bought pulgs in, and works on timers, that 13 dollar one im sure needs to be hard wired and blows a constant CFM, the one I have has 3 speeds for hot mild and cold days when temps can cause issues, so include the wire costs you are looking at ILL go cheap with 25. the best thing about this is the fan can be mounted anywhere in the closet but the vent can be placed LOW on the wall to be hidden behind furniture on the outer wall. Preferably in the bathroom where you can say it is just the room deoderizer spray. Or a plumbing problem, If you are really lucky to have the wet wall there, connect the ehaust in to the sewer drain vent.

I should let it be known that I am doing a Macguyver Grow. If you never saw the Hit TV show in The States, Macguyver could make a working Sherman Tank out of typical houshold items.

I am doing that. If I can't have fun doing it, It aint worth doin.
