Default An Easy and Cheap DIY CFL Setup!

Here's what we need

-1 Surge Protector

-4(ish... Depending on how big the surge protector is) Light socket adapter plugs

-4 (or as much adapters you bought) Twin Adapter

-Some Caulking

or

-Nails and a Hammer

And thats it.

Procedure: (pretty simple stuff)

1) Caulk the surge protector to the designated spot you'd like to have your lights mounted. Let sit over night.
2) Plug in light socket adapters, then twin socket adapters into them. Finally, throw your favorite CFL lights into sockets.
3) Voila, safe and easy way to make a CFL light area. Slap some mylar, panda, whatever your preferences are into the concoction and You're done.

Don't have any pictures for the procedure since A) I didn't think about taking the pictures and I don't have the necessary usb cord for my camera and B) its pretty self explanatory.

This set up isn't too original or awing, however, its completely safe (opposed to splicing and dicing your cords) and is pretty much hassle-free. Enjoy.

how do u stop the ligth socket adapter plugs from falling out of the surge protected when u face the sockets pointing down? Wouldnt the weigth of the plug adapters, twin adapters and ligths pull em' rite out?

hmmm,i wonder if u could caulk the plug adapters to the surge protector?

good idea ?Or would it make bad connections, and make the set-up harder to modifiy later?

But over all very good idae dude

I wondered the same thing about the plug adapters falling out, but I'm using this particular setup now and everything fits snug into place. I wouldn't advise caulking the plugs adapters into the surge protector only because caulking is an adhesive which is usually highly flammable. The vapors are at least, usually if you let it dry you should be good to go but thats too close for comfort for me.

Most surge protectors have slots on the back of them for screws ie, being mounted .... why use caulk?

I have a question where did everyone get their adapters and such. The only places I've looked so far is walmart and they didn't know what I was talking about I'm guessing i'll have to make a trip to home depot.

Also whats everyones pricing I got the surge protector so far but when I looked online I was told about $30 per adapter.
