How to: easy and cheap DWC

Ok so basically I have a few sprouts and I was going to grow them in soil but I changed my mind after finding out how easy it is to make a DWC Bubbler.

Here is one of my sprouts, they are about 10 days old.

Step one is to get your materials, this is what I bought.
18 Gallon container, pick what size fits you best, the darker the color the better. $6

Net cups, I don't know what they cost, maybe a couple bucks.

Weather stripping to line the lid with so water doesn't leak out, 4 bucks for 17 feet.

Hydroton, 10 dollars for a bag.

Air pump for $10 and 2, 2foot air tubes for $3.
The guy said they last longer than air stones.

And supernatural nutes, cost me $22 bucks for the 3 pack of gro, bloom, and super boost. I also got 2 free sample packets of bud blaster.

Next you want to trace your holes, I feel that staggering them like this is better than four corners because it gives for more even spacing.
Trace the bottoms of the cups.

Using a heat gun with help your knife cut through that bitch like butter.

Next line the cups with some hydroton balls, and put in your plants.
I'm pretty sure plants in rockwool and other mediums are better suited for this than jiffy pellets, but I made due with what I had done.

First idea of how to put the air tubes to space it out, we did it a little differently in the end.

With a little light added, we added 2 more cfls after, 6500 daylight spectrum.

Check out the bubbles.

Ok now here are a bunch of noob questions I have.

About how long until I can see roots out of the bottom of the cups?
I have yet to add my nutes in yet, I wanted to know when I should add them and I am assuming to start with 1/4 str right?
I mostly only know things about soil.
The pump is rated for 20-60 gallon tank and I think said 3000cc, is this enough or do I need another one?
Anything else I need to expect or should be aware of?

Thank you!
