THE DIMMER IS PHAT - and i even went the extra bit and got a nice silver knob from radioshack - also temp mesurements it goes as high as 450F (my IR temp isnt accurate over that so it probably can get hotter... but ive left it on for over 2 hours)

Which type of bulb did you use? I also have a question as to whether you guys covered the light with the brass and have the brass heating the herb or if you just have it held above the light.

The brass is the containment unit, you are pulling the hot air off of the bulb through the herb. You need this airflow for vaporizing, this heat is coming from the bulb ( SO YES ABOVE THE LIGHT ) not too far, but not touching, theres about 3/4 inch of space between the tip of my bulb and my bottom screen

I believe the bulb was a 20w halogen cabinet light i forgot, it was at lowes home improvemnet and it was like 2 dollars and change. hah they even had packs of 3

What did you guys use to connect the electrical cord wires to the pins on the bulb? The electrical tape I am currently using keeps melting/burning and space is pretty limited.

I would solder them but I don't have access to a soldering iron.

the halogen lights just plug into the wall right.. ... i found one laying around the house but its just the light ficture that has the 2 wires coming from it.. i then hook that to a wire with a plug on it and plug it in and it blows the light.... i did that 2 diff times... i dont know why... i got a dimmer too and when i hooked it up through there i tryed it on low and it started to flash then i turned it up and it blew...this looks really cool and i really want to make it... but the instructions are kinda hard to follow ... maybe if u had pics for every step or something easy for ppl .. but great job

I bought a 120V rated 20w bulb at home depot. It was like $3. I just hooked it up to the cord and it worked fine.

The bulb you had probably isn't made for 120V?

Looks like my project for the week. How efficient do you think it is compared with traditional methods?

well i didnt have the cord that is suplied when u buy the hologen ficture..... but i got that now and it works fine.... i just have to find some piece of wood or something and then what to use for the bowl part.... wondering if i can use glass instead
