Just wondering, how often would you have to change the carbon filter?

the package says 90 days, but that is considering 1 layer, they way its wrapped its about 4 layers, minimum 3 months and wait to see when you can smell a little something then replace the filter material.

it should depend on your room size too, the more plants the more often you may need to change.

It is a very good filter for the room size you have. i did about the same thing however i have a 10'x16' room with alotta plants. so i used a 8" to 6" reducer and made 2 screen tubes. inserted the 6" screen tube all the way in the reducer and inserted the 8" over it (tube inside a tube) then filled that gap with activated carbon. it took about 30lbs of it to fill it, but mine is 36" long.

and btw dont use only pantie hose to cover the inside roll if screen, gotta wrap it with that carbon filter or the pantie hose will break and it will suck the carbon pellits into your fan.

all in all it is a great idea either way you go. cheep compaired to buying one at the hydro store
